3 ways to reshape your jawline and chin profile

Ways To Reshape Your Jawline And Chin Profile

From makeup to a non-surgical treatment

In this day and age, there’s no denying that we, as women, feel the pressure more than ever to look our best. According to a recent survey up to 71 per cent of women make an effort to look good for themselves, and 42 per cent also said that they’d seek a cosmetic treatment (like injectables) to boost self-confidence.

Interestingly, the second highest concern for women in Australia is having a double chin, which bothers about 59 per cent of women (according to Allergan’s research), as it’s a stubborn area of fat that is difficult to eliminate with diet and exercise.

If you’re looking for short and long term solutions to treat your double chin and want to reshape your profile, here are three solutions using makeup, skin care and injectables, to address the issue.

1 / With makeup

You can’t go past contouring and highlighting to instantly slim the look of your jawline. Using a palette of creamy colours (such as COVERGIRL truBLEND Contour Palette), pick up the darkest shade using your middle finger, and trace a line from the middle of your chin along your jawline to about an inch from your ears on both sides. Then, with your ring finger, blend the colour in to your foundation in circular motions for a natural finish. To really accentuate your jawline, use the highlighter shade in the palette (or a foundation colour that’s a shade or two lighter than your natural complexion) and apply it just above where you’ve applied your contour colour, and blend as well.

Good to know: Darker contouring colours can visually make an area look more far away (therefore smaller), whereas lighter highlighting shades can visually make something look closer (therefore making it look bigger).

2 / With skin care

Just like how the skin on your face needs special attention with the likes of serums and moisturisers, your neck also needs to be looked after. Nourish the delicate area with a dedicated product, such as La Prairie Anti-Aging Neck Cream, which can prevent crepey skin that can create a sagging effect in the area. To really bring out your jawline, apply the cream by massaging it from your chin right down to your décolletage to increase lymphatic drainage and remove toxins from the area.

3 / With BELKYRA®

If you’re looking for a more permanent solution to reshape your profile and double chin, then BELKYRA® could be for you. BELKYRA® is a non-surgical in-clinic treatment option that’s made of deoxycholic acid. BELKYRA® can permanently destroy fat cells over time and eliminate the look of a double chin.

This treatment is performed by a doctor that’s specially trained in offering this treatment. It involves getting several injections under the chin area into the fat pad which forms the double chin. It’s been proven that an improvement can be seen after two to four treatment sessions spaced at least four weeks apart (with a maximum of six treatments performed altogether), and each treatment takes about 20 minutes.

As for the discomfort, the treatment feels like tiny pin pricks, however this can be lessened with the application of ice prior to injecting or a numbing cream half an hour before your appointment. You may also experience a light burning sensation and some swelling should occur for a few days before the area subsides.

"BELKYRA® provides a customisable, non-surgical option to improve the appearance of fullness under the chin. Many people who have treatment to reduce the appearance of a double chin report feeling more confident and happier as a result."
