Get glowing skin with light therapy

Light therapy is the go-to treatment for many famous faces. Owner of Duquessa Skin Sanctuary and a cosmetics nurse practitioner, Katherine Millar-Shannon, shares her expert advice on the in-salon skin care treatment.

What is Omnilux?

Omnilux uses light therapy to treat common skin problems, like acne, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, pigmentation, and rough skin tone and texture. “We commonly treat the face, neck, décolletage and hands by simply popping [the client] under the lamp with some goggles on, for about 20 minutes,” says Millar-Shannon.

Who is Omnilux suitable for?

It’s worth consulting a practitioner first to determine your skin type and the target areas you want addressed, as each light caters for different issues. “There are three lights we work with: the Omnilux Revive, which hydrates and plumps skin; Omnilux Blue, which is great for acne; and Omnilux Plus, which focuses on healing the skin,” says Millar-Shannon.

Why should we all try it?

It’s a great option to use alongside other treatments such as microdermabrasion and peels to enhance their effectiveness, or used as a standalone treatment for skin rejuvenation. The beauty is that there’s no downtime—you can resume normal activity immediately.

How regularly should you get Omnilux?

Millar-Shannon recommends nine-10 treatments, either weekly or bi-weekly.
