How To Get Your Skin Wedding Day-Ready - Meghan Markle

Or glowing to the max ahead of any big event

A major event like a wedding conjures up much anxiety about looking your best, particularly when it comes to your skin. Having the attention
of a crowded room on you requires glowing, radiant skin. Explore your options with some shared tips from three experts in the field of skin care.

1

An aesthetician’s advice

Nichola Joss, who is recent bride Meghan Markle’s go-to aesthetician, shares her recommendations for skin treatments in the countdown to a noteworthy event.

“Monthly facials that are massage-heavy will help remove toxins and tension and will help to improve and sculpt contours,” says Joss. If you’re concerned with scarring, topical congestion or surface tone, Joss recommends trying peels or microneedling four to six months before your event to help skin texture, tone and smoothness.
Joss claims that peels and laser treatments can be introduced into your skin care routine if you are mindful of downtime, allowing
a minimum of four to six months lead time.

“I will always advise [my clients to take] supplements, which help to fill the body with the right nutrients it needs throughout the day,” says Joss, who further recommends adopting a healthy diet and reducing the intake of sugar and dairy.

A cosmetic physician’s advice

Dr Saras Sundrum, from Dr Saras and Co in Sydney, explains some non-invasive options that are on offer for ensuring perfect wedding day skin.

“A few treatments of HydraFacial a month before the wedding allows the skin to be thoroughly cleaned out and the correct serums to be infused to combat common problems such as acne, redness or brown spots,” says Sundrum. Skin will also become more hydrated, which in turn will help minimise the appearance of fine lines.

Another new treatment with minimal-to-no downtime is Picosure laser. “Two or three treatments with the laser will ensure that the texture of the skin is perfect. It helps with softening wrinkles and fine lines, removing irritating brown spots, toning and tightening skin, reducing the size of pores and helping reduce the appearance of scarring,” claims Sundrum, who adds that the laser can be used on all skin colours.

A beauty therapist’s advice

If your minimalistic approach to the big day has left little time for prep, a Dermalux LED Phototherapy facial is perfect. This light treatment is gentle enough to do on the day, but consecutive treatments in the lead-up will give better results. Vaia Pappas, naturopath and Salon Director at Vaia Beauty, breaks down the benefits.

“The difference with Dermalux
as opposed to other LED machines is that it has all three colours combined in the one machine,” so multiple
skin concerns can be targeted in
one go. Those with acne may benefit particularly. “The clinic specialises in naturopathy and inner health, and ... the LED is ... non-invasive. There’s no chemicals involved, it’s literally applying healing light to the skin,” says Pappas.
