You may have already nailed your own skin care routine (bye bye dark circles, hello plumper-looking skin)... but what about for your significant other? Here’s our round up of the best new launches for him that are bound to help soothe, hydrate and treat his niggling skin issues like blackheads and dry patches.
If he’s looking for an all-round anti-ager
Boasting nourishing ingredients such as Persian silk tree extract, Kakadu plum extract and tamarind seed extract, the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon can improve skin tone, revive a lacklustre complexion and make him look like he’s had a really good night’s sleep. The encapsulated formula is also worth shouting about,\ as it allows the gel-cream formula to penetrate the ingredients deeper into the skin’s layers and work to its full potential. Oh, and this cream is one you can (and should) share!
If he’s looking for an aftershave treatment
Facial skin that’s been freshly shaved is highly susceptible to feeling sensitive. One way to nix this issue is with a lightweight lotion, such as Perricone MD CBx for Men Soothing Post-Shave Treatment, which contains cooling yet nourishing ingredients to soothe irritations.
If he has fine lines
Retinol, as found in Ultraceuticals Ultra MD Ultimate A Refining Serum, is one of the most celebrated anti-ageing skin care ingredients as it can work to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Those new to using this leading ingredient should go easy at first; begin by using the product once a week, then every few nights, before trying it daily (note: you should only ever use retinol at night as it can cause sun sensitivity).
If he’s looking for a day cream
La Mer’s newest launch, The Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream, features the skin care brand’s signature Miracle Broth (a marine-based ingredient that carries healing properties) but has been newly formulated into a gel-like consistency so it sinks into skin less than a minute post application. He’ll be hooked on this product, and so will you… just try and resist borrowing it from him!
If he has blackheads
Healthy-looking skin starts with a clear complexion that’s free from blackheads. Clinique’s innovative Blackhead Solutions Self-Heating Blackhead Extractor works in two parts: remove the lid and apply the product onto clean, dry skinthen gently wet your skin to activate the heated formula. For the second step, use the textured head to massage the product into your skin and remove blackheads with ease.
If his skin needs a pick-me-up
Dehydration doesn’t only occur in summer; he’s just as susceptible to dry patches in winter due to exposure to extreme temperatures like at the snow or sitting in a heated office. The Lab Series Solid Water Essence is a sure-fire way to instantly deliver hydration to his skin, as the solid gel breaks down into a water-like consistency once it comes into contact with skin, and therefore can penetrate skin really easily.
If he wants super clean skin
A toner is ace at soothing skin and giving his complexion a final clean. We recommend Logic by Triumph & Disaster A Witch Hazel Toning Lotion, which contains a blend of Tasmanian pepper fruit extract, witch hazel extract and alpine willow herb extract to gently cleanse without stripping skin of moisture. Plus, the formula is alcohol-free, so it won’t sting his skin or dry it out.
If he has tired-looking eyes
Loaded with hyaluronic acid, Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Dew It All Eye Gel is an incredibly moisturising solution that reverses the signs of tiredness without feeling heavy on skin. This supercharged product contains caffeine to brighten the area and de-puff, as well as green algae to address fine lines like crow’s feet.
