As far as beauty buys go, perfume is top tier-level indulgence at its finest.

The thing we don’t really love, however, is that most of our go-to fragrances often have less than realistic price tags.

So when we are on the last few dregs of our favourite sweet perfumes, you better believe we’re siphoning every last precious drop of the damn stuff as if our lives depended on it.

But if the idea of being between bottles and the anxiety of going without the comfort of an olfactory is all too much, we a) completely understand, and b) have a salve to soothe your fragrance mourning.

Introducing the delightfully opportunistic concept of fragrance dupes.

We’ve already found some stellar  dupes for discontinued fragrances, and a plethora of Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 dupes. And now, we’ve even hunted down a dupe for the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum ($129.99 at Chemist Warehouse).

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum

Yep, turns out the sweetly addictive black coffee and white floral fragrance has two very inexpensive doppelganger roaming the back alleys of online perfume outlets.

Black Addiction by Mirage Brands for Women Eau de Parfum ($19.90 at Kogan) boasts a fragrance profile of warm vanilla notes, comforting amber, refreshing pear, spicy pink pepper, and zesty orange blossom.

While Designer Brands Poppy Noir for Women ($12.99 at Designer Brands) features a mysterious and alluring blend of sweet warm spices combined with the signature black opium blend of caffeine and floral notes.

YSL’s Black Opium has distinct touches of cedarwood, patchouli and black coffee for a slightly richer experience than it’s budget-friendly counterparts, but the essence of the fragrance lives on in these strikingly similar black bottles.
