Prepare to be schooled in the art of restraint
When it comes to effortless beauty, Parisians just get it right. They seriously have a knack for nailing a minimalist approach, while still (somehow) making it look edgy and elegant. And the recent CHANEL Cruise Show in Paris was all the proof you need.
The 2018/2019 show absolutely oozed true French chic – and natural-looking hair and flawless bare skin won out once again. For good reason.
From cute berets (we’re adding this accessory to our wish list immediately) to straight and shiny, can’t-be-bothered-but-still-looks-super-expensive hair, the show was the epitome of refined and sophisticated beauty. And it made us want to take a leaf out of the French’s beauty book immediately.
Undoubtedly, the striking graphic eye look stole the spotlight. The models (including Bella and Gigi Hadid) had their eyes lined with a dramatic and seriously intense eyeliner that accentuated their eyes for a bold touch to an otherwise pared-back look.
However, the eye makeup *somehow* didn’t look grungy or sultry, but rather cool and refined. We’re putting the success of this demure look down to the combination of clean, dewy skin and a minimalist approach to the rest of the makeup. And yes, take all the notes – you should definitely consider doing the same.
As far as sets go, Karl Lagerfield totally just won. While he’s notorious for his monumental set-ups, there was an *actual* ocean linerstationed in the middle of the fashion show and we can’t deal.
Are you feeling this pared-back French vibe? Then you need to know these Parisian beauty rules.
