Umm say what?!!

When it comes to foundations, extensive shade ranges have been a welcome trend of late. But one brand, Becca, has taken a totally different direction, releasing an innovative ‘zero-pigment foundation’.

Already launched in Sephora in the U.S. and Cult Beauty in the U.K, the formula is the first of its kind and has certainly piqued our interest. Because, well, how on earth does it work? Let’s investigate.

From the brand’s Instagram we can see that the foundation in question bears a striking resemblance to a clear gel-based moisturiser, and when smoothed over skin, promises to blur imperfections and pores, minimise shine and unify the complexion.

The foundation has left some fans of the brand confused, however, with one person commenting, “so it’s a blurring primer....”, and another stating that if it doesn’t have pigment, it can’t be considered a ‘foundation.’

On the flipside, fans of the no-makeup makeup look are all for the hype, with one writing, “Great, my skin looks so healthy, have no intention to hide it behind heavy makeup, can’t wait to rock these products”.

Becca has also released a clear glass-finish gloss highlighter within the same range, which can be used on the high points of the face or on lips.  But this product too, has elicited the same questionable responses, such as, “Um so a primer and a...repurposed lipgloss?”

Regardless of how you classify the products, we appreciate the sentiment of less is more and embracing the look of natural skin. The glass-skin look worn effortlessly by brand ambassador Barbie Ferreira in the low-key campaign images is the stuff dreams are made of. But is it too good to be true?

No word on when it will launch in Australia yet, so we guess we’ll let you know...
