If you’re an art lover, but seem to be lacking the thousands of dollars to build your collection, perhaps consider getting a little creative with your passion, like investing in beauty products that are as beautifully packaged as they are practical. Here are our top picks.
If you like: modern aquatic prints
While this R+Co High Dive Moisture + Shine Crème will help calm frizz and flyaways and leave hair hydrated and soft, the packaging will speak to your love of the ocean. Featuring the prettiest print of someone diving into a pool, the treatment product will spruce up any bathroom and leave you yearning for summer beach days. We can’t go past these delicious scent of blood orange, rhubarb and leather, either.
If you like: minimalist art
Despite the simplicity in some modern artworks (who hasn’t said they could easily do it themselves?!) they could cost more than an arm and a leg. Get your own piece of modern art for a fraction of the price with Diptyque’s La Madeleine Candle. While it may not have the sharp lines and bold colours of the artwork you love, the simple design and use of negative space are a nice tribute to the genre. As for the candle’s scent, discover a deliciously zingy blend of citrus and French pastry.
If you like: fashion illustrations
The new gift with purchase items from Lancome are serious must-haves in our eyes - and not only for the products themselves. The gorgeous packaging has been designed by renowned artist Jaesuk Kim, who says of his work, “I like to draw free-hand and mix watercolour with digital prints. Watercolours give a really feminine feeling, and I personally love this medium because you don’t really know how it’s going to turn out until you actually illustrate with it." These custom-designed cosmetic pouches will be available until the 5th of March at David Jones, so be quick.
If you like: mineral rock prints
Sportsgirl Scrub Up Sugar in In A Daze is a sugar-based scrub that can help remove dead skin build up and keep your limbs smooth and soft to touch. But as much as we’re in love with the granular formula, it’s pretty pastel mineral rock-printed bag with gold foiling that will win you over. Seriously divine.
If you like: pop art
If Andy Warhol’s work is more your taste, then you need to get your hands on a few cans of Cedel Dry Shampoo for Light Hair and Dark Hair. Each shade features a retro-inspired print, but besides that, you’ll love that the formula inside smells deliciously like coconut. Oh, and did we mention that the dark formula can absorb excess oils at the roots and give grown-out roots a temporary cover up? Genius.
If you like: Cubist art
Cubism is all about straight lines paired with bright colours, which is exactly why you’ll love Narciso Rodriguez For Her Fleur Musc if you’re a fan of the movement. Housed in a bright pink glass bottle and featuring a bold rectangular cap, the scent is made to stand out in your fragrance wardrobe. The juice inside is just as brilliant, and shows off a blend of pink peppercorn, rose, musk, and patchouli. Available March 6.
BONUS - If you like: bronze statues
Sculptures and statues more your thing? A piece of French history is yours for the taking with Cire Trudon’s Marie-Antoinette Bust, which that looks identical to one created around the 1800s. And while it’s not technically a beauty product, it’s made from the same high-quality beeswax as the original line of candles from the luxury French brand. Available in March from libertineparfumerie.com.au.
