Your biggest summer hair dilemmas solved
There’s no need to be a frizzy, fried hot mess any longer!
Along with the heat and humidity of summer comes a huge array of hair problems, and while we love the lifestyle the warmer weather inspires, the effect it can have on our hair is less than ideal. Whether it’s combatting brittle, breakable hair or preventing your colour from fading due to salt, chlorine and sun, we’ve got the solutions to your biggest summer hair concerns.
Problem: Your hair colour is fading
Solution: Keeping coloured hair looking fresh is a much bigger problem come summer. Swimming in chlorine pools, the ocean and hanging out in the sun all pose threats to fading dark hair colours and frying lighter shades. The easiest way to protect your colour-treated hair from the elements is to add an UV protection product to your hair routine; the same way you would apply sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Our tip: Applying your UV product to damp hair helps the formula better absorb into the hair for greater protection.

Problem: Your strands are extra dry and prone to breakage
Solution: The products you use before and after your time in the sun plays a big role in preventing your hair from becoming dry and brittle. Make sure you are using a protective and intensely hydrating shampoo and conditioner and steer clear of ingredients such as sodium chlorine, sulfates or parabens that will strip your hair of moisture. Combine with a weekly hair mask to replenish and revive your parched locks and damaged summer hair will be a thing of the past.
Our tip: Your hair is most fragile when it’s wet, so avoid unnecessary breakage by using a wide tooth comb and spritz with a detangling spray to help with brushing out knots.

Problem: Hair is constantly frizzy and hard to tame
Solution: Summer is a hotbed for frizz. Add to that the fact that you’re constantly swimming, washing your hair more regularly and therefore styling twice as often and it’s no surprise your hair is a frizzy mess. For more manageable summer hair, avoid overwashing your hair where possible as it strips your hair of its natural oils, gently pat hair dry rather than towel-drying which roughens the hair cuticle and causes frizz, and always apply a heat protectant before styling.
Our tip: Rather than applying a styling product after hair has dried, apply it to towel-dried hair to tame frizz before it appears.
