From fragrances that hero delectable fruity notes to skin care that contains fruit-based ingredients like apple and kiwi fruit, fruit is more than just a nutritional staple. The newest craze that we’ve seen hit our beauty cupboard is fruit-scented hair products, including shampoos and masks that smell outright incredible. And they just so happen to work a treat on repairing and nourishing your strands. Here are our absolute favourite fruity hair products that have just hit shelves.
If your favourite fruit is banana
Banana may not be the first fruit to come to mind when you think about what you want your hair to smell like, but surprisingly, it works. Our pick of the bunch: the Garnier Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food Intense Conditioner. It’s boosted with banana juice, has a 98 per cent natural formula and contains no silicones or parabens inside. You can apply it as a normal conditioner straight after you shampoo, as a hydrating mask to really nourish every strand, or you can even use it as a leave-in product to really give your hair a super soft feel - just apply with caution as a little goes a long way.
If your favourite fruit is papaya
Alternatively, if your hair requires some extra TLC, the Garnier Fructis Repairing Papaya Hair Food Intense Conditioner, which smells a lot like the actual tropical fruit, is the way to go. Inside you’ll find supercharged ingredients such as papaya, coconut oil and sunflower seeds to restore damage and increase radiance to mimic healthy-looking hair.
If your favourite fruit is apple
The latest additions to the Hair Recipe range are the Apple & Ginger Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, which boast a delicious fragrance (they smell good enough to eat!) and the ability to really hydrate and repair damaged hair. On top of that, the shampoo can deeply cleanse without making your scalp feel tight and uncomfortable, and the conditioner can address hair damage without weighing down your locks.
If your favourite fruit is blueberry
Punchy bluey-purple in colour, the Brite Briteplex Blueberry Hair Masque is a blueberry-scented treatment that can be used once a week to neutralise brassy tones in blonde hair; all you need to do is apply it to damp hair from roots to ends (remember to squeeze out any excess water in the shower after shampooing) and leave it in for up to 15 minutes before rinsing. What we also love about this product is that it comes packaged in a pouch, making it a dream to travel with as it won’t spill or burst.
If your favourite fruit is grapefruit
For those with hard-to-manage wavy locks or tight ringlets, the Davines LOVE Curl Primer is a great multitasking product. Not only can a few spritzes detangle knotty hair, but it can also soften and boost shine all thanks to almond extract inthe formula. Plus, the pink grapefruit, blackcurrant and rhubarb scent is absolutely to-die-for.
