This micellar water removes makeup without irritating sensitive skin

Here’s what our Review Crew® had to say about this gentle yet effective cleanser

The product

Cleansing is arguably the most important step in your skin care routine. It helps to remove makeup, dirt and impurities, and preps skin for the rest of your skin care products.

BUT, a lot of cleansers on the market can be too harsh for sensitive skin types, or they may be gentle but they are not as effective at removing all traces of makeup.

Garnier’s latest cleanser, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Delicate Eyes & Skin – a variation on their world-renowned original micellar water formula – is formulated especially for sensitive skin types and doesn’t compromise on effective makeup removal. The unique water-in-oil formula helps to easily remove even the heaviest of makeup without excessive rubbing, ensuring skin doesn’t feel stripped, tight or irritated. In fact, the presence of oil in the micellar water helps to keep skin feeling hydrated long after cleansing, but doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue on skin.

Our panel of Review Crew® testers put this product to the test.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Delicate Eyes & Skin to a panel of women aged between 18 and 35 who wanted an effective way to remove their makeup and cleanse their face without irritating their delicate skin and eyes.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Delicate Eyes & Skin.

The ease of use: Reviewers loved the fact that using the micellar water practically cut their cleansing time in half. Many noted that everything, from the bottle design to the way the micellar water cut through makeup with ease, made makeup removal and cleansing a breeze. Our members also remarked that they were able to easily remove waterproof eye makeup without any excessive rubbing and without causing irritation to the delicate eye area.

How hydrating the formula was: Many of our members mentioned they were initially hesitant to try the water-in-oil formula, fearing it would leave their skin feeling oily or greasy after application. Overwhelmingly, reviewers noted that the presence of oil in the formula actually left their skin feeling hydrated and softer than usual. Some said that unlike most micellar waters, this cleanser left their skin feeling clean and refreshed and they did not experience tightness or drying out of the skin like they usually do.

The gentleness of the micellar water: Our Review Crew® members were surprised by just how gentle the micellar water was, with some even commenting that using the micellar water regularly had helped to minimise their experiences of irritation overall. Some of our members who suffer from pre-existing skin conditions such as eczema loved that the micellar water was gentle enough to use on their irritation-prone skin.

The verdict

“The oil ensured that the product didn’t strip any of my natural oils in my skin but didn’t leave a greasy film; it removed all traces of waterproof eyeliner and liquid lipstick and it didn’t cause a reaction on the eczema on my eyelids.”

“I usually suffer from very sensitive skin particularly around my eye area, and removing eye makeup usually left me with redness and irritation around the eye area, but this is the first product that I can use liberally and it leaves my skin unharmed.”

“Other micellar waters I have tried have left my skin feeling a little dry so I was happy that this product left my skin feeling nourished and hydrated. It caused no irritation to my skin, not even around the eye area.”
