Halal makeup has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, with more and more brands catering to the Muslim community, to provide halal beauty products that align with their faith.

In order for a product to be halal, it needs to be free from any products deemed unclean in Islam. Often compared to and easily confused with vegan certified products, halal doesn’t include any animal-derived components, alcohol or GMOs and products have to be cruelty-free.

More than just a new ‘trend’, some products (such as breathable nail polishes) are also formulated so that they can be worn during wudu (washing before prayer).
