Harry Styles' hair has officially re-entered the chat

Since stepping onto the solo music scene back in 2016, Harry Styles has been dominating the charts and our hearts. The singer’s brown curls have become synonymous with his signature style (peep his best hair moments), because who wouldn’t want to run their hands through Styles’ luscious locks? But TikTok has gone into meltdown because Harry Styles has shaved off his curly locks and gotten himself a buzz cut.

The news began circulating on X (AKA Twitter) and TikTok on November 7, after a screenshot from a text to IRL Gossip Girl Deuxmoi went viral, alleging Styles had been seen at a U2 concert in Las Vegas sans his beautiful head of hair. And whilst we were honestly just hoping it was all an elaborate PR stunt to get people talking about his new Pleasing fragrance line, Styles' new look was confirmed when TMZ shared a TikTok video of the popstar sporting a buzz cut. And, dare we say it, he's actually kind of slaying.

Of course, the news sent fans (AKA Harries) into absolute meltdown and their reactions are exactly what we imagined they’d be (girl, same)…

In a wild Swftie-Styles crossover, all our minds immediately jumped to the lyrics of a new Taylor Swift vault track from “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”. We guess he took the line “You grew your hair long / You got new icons” to heart…

If you’re as chronically online as we are, you’re probably well-versed in the Harry Styles bald debate. But if not, a quick recap:

Essentially, a group of Harries are convinced that the "Watermelon Sugar" singer is, in fact, bald and his luscious mane is just a wig. No surprise that these rumours also stemmed from a 2022 Deuxmoi blind that claimed an “A-list musician/occasional actor has a dirty little secret he hasn’t shared with fans. Literally! He has gone almost completely bald. His hairpiece is so lifelike that only a good eye could pick it out…”.

Styles laughed off the rumours in an interview with Rolling Stone in August 2022, after hearing the theory from collaborator Kid Harpoon. "He’s completely obsessed with it,” Styles shared. “He won’t stop sending me messages about [people] trying to work out if I’m bald."

Whilst he didn’t specifically deny the rumour, he did share his theory on baldness: “What is it with baldness? … It skips a generation or something, right? If your grandad’s bald then you’ll be bald? Well, my granddad wasn’t bald, so fingers crossed." Interesting…

TikTokers speculated that the buzz cut could be a post-hair transplant look or an edgy new look to signify Styles’ new era.

But considering the pop star was papped in the stands of the Luton Town vs Manchester United football match on February 18th 2024 with a fresh head of grown out hair, all of our theories have gone out the window.
