There’s no question about it, a trusty lip balm is a staple item in anyone’s beauty stash. Even if you don’t consider yourself much of a product junkie, we’d be willing to bet that you own at least a couple of lip balms ‘cause ain’t nobody got time for dry or chapped lips!
According to voting website Ranker (a platform that allows users to vote for products across a variety of list categories), these are the Internet’s favourite lip balm brands.
#10 / Lush
Handmade cosmetics brand Lush is widely known for its 100 per cent vegetarian, cruelty-free products that use ethically sourced and quality Fair Trade ingredients wherever possible. And who wouldn’t want those kind of qualities in something you apply directly to your lips?
Our pick: Honey Trap
This little pot of deliciousness contains a mouth-watering mint-honey concoction with ultra-nourishing ingredients like honey, oatmeal, wheat germ, and olive and almond oils to hydrate and soothe the lips.
#9 / Softlips
Sadly, Softlips is no longer available in Australia, but it seems they’re still very popular overseas as they came in at number nine on Ranker’s list. If you consider yourself a bit of a lip balm buff, you may remember Softlip’s tall, thin white tubes that come in a variety of fruity flavours.
#8 / Neutrogena
Ranker users say that Neutrogena lip balms are some of the best, but again we don’t have these presently available in Australia. That said, we thought we’d mention them anyway so that you can stock up when travelling overseas!
#7 / Blistex
When it comes to dry or cracked lips, Blistex is one of the most effective treatments out there. Their formulas are clinically tested and developed to heal cracked lips quickly, making them a good go-to lip balm for winter when your lips are very likely suffering due to the cold weather.
Our pick: Blistex Lip Conditioner
This lip balm is one of our all-time faves thanks to its super hydrating formula which is enriched with collagen, cocoa butter and vitamin E.
#6 / EOS
Evolution of Smooth, known as EOS, has developed rather a cult following for their lip balms with the most popular product in their line-up being the sphere-shaped pots that you’ve likely seen in health food stores (or on Kim Kardashian’s social media accounts).
Our pick: EOS Coconut Milk Visibly Soft Lip Balm Sphere
We’re big fans of these 99 per cent natural lip balms, which contain loads of lip lovin’ ingredients like shea butter and vitamins C and E.
#5 / Chapstick
Ah, the tried-and-true Chapstick. This brand is so popular that you’ll often hear people using the brand’s name to reference any type of lip balm. Yep, it’s that well known and loved!
Our pick: Chapstick Strawberry Lip Balm
This guy is hands down our fave. It’s been around since our childhoods and we’re obsessed with the familiar strawberry smell.
#4 / Carmex
With their unmissable yellow packaging, Carmex has to be one of the most iconic lip balm brands. The products in Carmex’s range are all variations of their original classic balm in the tub, and for a good reason – the stuff really works.
Our pick: Carmex Lip Balm
Although Carmex have expanded their range into loads of different flavours and styles, we still love the OG Carmex Lip Balm in the jar. The formula contains camphor and menthol (it kinda zings when you apply it!) as well as hydrating cocoa butter and waxes to soothe cracked lips, STAT.
Good old no-frills Vaseline. This multipurpose petroleum jelly product is suited not just to soothing chapped lips, but it is also great for comforting dry itchy skin, sealing split ends and removing eye makeup. Just Google Vaseline uses and you’ll be hit with endless results.
Our pick: Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Lip Balm Tin Rosy Lips
This cute tin is a lot more purse-friendly than the classic jar of Vaseline for when you’re on the go. It’s also subtly tinted and gives your lips the perfect barely-there colour.
#2 / NIVEA
When we think of NIVEA, we think of simple yet dependable products that we can rely on to get the job done. And when it comes to their lip balms, it seems the people of Ranker think so too; NIVEA took out second place as one of the most loved lip balm brands.
Our pick: NIVEA Repair & Protection SPF15
If you’re suffering from dry, cracked lips and looking for a nourishing lip balm that will repair your pout and prevent further dryness from occurring, look no further. With bisabolol and wheat germ oil, plus the addition of SPF 15, this lip balm is the perfect beach companion for go-to for preventing sore lips any day of the week.
#1 / Burt’s Bees
Drumroll, please! Coming in at number one is Burt’s Bees. These golden tubes of goodness are also a firm fave over here at Beauty Crew HQ due to their natural, beeswax-based formulas that leave your lips feeling darn good.
Our pick: Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
Boasting a 100 per cent natural ingredient list and packed with loads of conditioning oils, there’s nothing we don’t love about this one. And it seems our reviewers think so too – they gave it a whopping 4.5 stars!
