Living in Paris and always on the go, Natalie Portman needs a beauty routine that is quick but effective. On top of that, she’s also vegan, so she’s always seeking products with natural ingredients. Here’s an insight into her beauty routine, her favourite products, and her love of Paris.

Why her brows look so good

“I was told not to pluck my eyebrows. In the ’90s, everyone was making them very thin and someone said to me on a photo shoot, ‘Don’t let them touch your eyebrows!’”

Her travel essentials

“I travel a lot so I always have a ‘survival kit’ with me. It includes Lucas’ Papaw Ointment (my best friend lives in Australia and sends it to me), Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara (because it doesn’t require a lash curler) and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet.”

A-list tip

“A makeup trick I’ve learnt is to use a lot of powder. Being under lights, which are more bright than hot, you sweat a lot. Once my makeup is done, I use Dior Diorskin Nude Tan Matte for touch-ups; it blends perfectly and gives a healthy glow.”

Parisian life

“I walk a lot in Paris. It’s such a beautiful city, so I try to walk as much as I can and it’s part of my daily exercise. The ‘Parisian’ beauty look is quite natural: not much makeup, just a touch of mascara and some lipstick. It’s very convenient with such a busy life.”

Her go-to makeup look

“I like being natural. It takes a lot of time to put makeup on and I’m not an expert, so I prefer to avoid complicated and risky looks. However, I do like makeup for special occasions when I want to feel that I’m dressing up – it’s something more glamorous and sophisticated.”

How her routine has changed now she’s a mum

“Since becoming a mother, my routine needs to be a lot simpler and it needs to be faster because I have much less time for everything. I also make sure that everything I use doesn’t have chemicals in it – it has to be really clean because your child ends up eating whatever you have on your skin or your hands.”

The perfect hair length

“I shaved my head in 2005 for V For Vendetta – it made me feel like a different person and that was good for the movie. My favourite hair length is mid-length; it’s feminine, convenient and allows me to tie it back.”

Healthy habits

“I’m focused on beauty from the inside. I love healthy food and I can totally tell the difference with my skin depending on what I eat. I always use products with natural ingredients that are carefully selected and ethically cultivated. As a vegan, being conscious about what you eat and how you are affecting the planet is a great place to start.”
