Good budget toning product.

Good toning product when on the budget. I used it as a maintenance product to keep the highlights/bayalage free from yellow tint and fresh, bright looking. It contains sulphates , so I do not use it often, can be a bit drying to highlighted bits of hair. Scent pleasant and does not have to be left in hair for too long, just a minute or 3. It is well saturated with purple pigments, considering it is a supermarket brand. Did not stain my skin/hands.

Great product for fine, blonde hair

I recently bought this product while trying to find a new toning shampoo for my very fine, blonde hair. as a frequent swimmer, my hair has a tendency to change colour and requires frequent toning. I have tried a number of products over the years and am always interested to try something new. The products smells nice, foams well and works very effectively. I have incorporated into my weekly hair care schedule and am extremely happy with the results. I will continue to purchase this product.

Great product for blondes who don't like to be Brassy. Tones blonde and natural colour really well. Doesn't dry hair too much and very difficult to overtone your hair using it. This is my new HG shampoo and what a fantastic price.

Great for highlighted hair

This was the first purple shampoo I've ever used so wasn’t sure what to expect really with my highlighted hair. I recently highlighted my hair again, and could see the “brassiness” starting so thought I would give this a try. I LOVE the rich purple colour of the shampoo with its little sparkle! I think it does smell nice as well. The shampoo lathers well also so you don’t need to apply a lot. I did notice a difference after 1st wash like it says on the packet. On the second use I did leave it in for about 5 minutes just out of curiosity and you could really see the blonde come back and that brassiness gone. I was asked if I had my hair done so obviously others noticed how revived it looked!!

Great shp

Smells really great! Very violet in colour. Product is easy to standup in shower and flip top lid makes it easy to use and get the right amount for use. Easy to lather in hair and I felt it does make my hair clean. Is a little bit messy to use from time to time, stands hands and the shower. Product does tone the hair but not a huge great deal. Gets rid of some of the brassy look but do feel that it doesn't last past one wash. Also does make the hair very dry and harsh so can't use it every wash.
This shampoo does contain sulphates.  My hair is waist long, lightened/bayalaged, fine hair strands prone to damage. After using this shampoo, my hair is toned and not dried out. But perhaps as I use my fave hair masks after toning with this shampoo. The shampoo works in getting those slightly yellowy and orangey tones out of my hair. Keeping the shine too. Took me a few washes to get the results I wanted. As with my HG I get results in one wash . It works, but not as fast as the competitor I prefer to use now.
Blonde hair is one high maintenance beauty....it demands regular salon visits / specialised products / delicate care and second thinking that dip into the pool, but since it isn't going away anytime soon, those who have it / want it,need to care for it with some great products....enter the blonde master,John Frieda. I have used John Frieda for years now,and love anything for blondes he puts out,so when i saw this,i knew i would not be disappointed...and i wasn't. The John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo For Blondes is an intensely violet / purple shampoo that works to counteract brassiness in blondes (and yellowing in grey) by neutralising the yellow and cooling down the warmth to make hair that beautiful, cool blonde you started with post colouring. The things that stood out for me with this product was the fact that this shampoo doesn't take several washes to work....results come in just one wash, and only get better with frequent use, that it actually did cleanse hair as well as tone the brass, and lathered really well (just be careful when using that you don't spill the straight product onto pale coloured tiles...no matter what you may be told,it DOES stain them) and only as small amount is need for big effect ( but unlike many, many other toning shampoos for blondes, this DOESN'T actually make your hair feel too stripped and brittle i will be honest and say that it did feel in need of a conditioner pretty quickly post rinse, and i would NEVER wet comb my hair before leaving a conditioner on for a moment before attempting that, but this shampoo wasn't as bad as many i have used) rather it felt cared for,and with help from the conditioner,as if i had stepped out from the salon chair.A tip i think works well, before you do rinse, leave product on the hair for a few minutes to really get that toned effect you are after. But what else about this makes it so great ? Well, there's that packaging....you will NEVER not find it among everything in your bathroom cupboard with all it's black, bright yellow and hyper bright violet hues,it is a huge 250ml tube (that comes in at around $18),and as it is so fantastic at toning, you may well find that this takes over from having to go the salon route as often for a toning session...so you will save some serious coin. All in all,if you are blonde, you NEED this. TIP:Keep on hair for a few moments before rinsing to leave a truly cool blonde result (just do a patch test before hand if you are a really pale blonde,as it MAY make you more "violet" than you ever wanted.
I have salon colour treated hair and have been using purple shampoos and conditioners for blonde hair for years. My hair is different shades of blonde so I always have tone correcting products in the shower at all times to eliminate any brassiness in my hair so when I saw the John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Shampoo for Blondes I thought it would be worth a try.       It’s easy to identify the Violet Crush Purple Shampoo by its packaging – a predominately purple plastic tube with a black band at the top and a burst of bright yellow below.  The tube has a flat, flip-top lid which makes it easy to store in the shower, and it holds 245ml of product.    The shampoo is a brilliant violet colour with blue pigments and has a rich formula with a consistency which is not too thin or too thick.  I quite like the fragrance of this shampoo although I can’t identify it, even after looking at the list of ingredients, but the shampoo is peroxide-free and ammonia-free.    I have quite short hair so I don’t need to use too much shampoo, nor do I need to leave the product in my hair for any length of time.  I just do a double shampoo and thorough rinse, and I’ve noticed that my hair feels soft and tangle-free even before I follow up with the John Frieda Sheer Blonde® Colour Renew Tone-Correcting Conditioner to combat any brassiness.  I also only need to use the purple shampoo once a week and use my regular shampoo on my other hair wash day.    I believe the John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Shampoo for Blondes gives my hair a cooler, brighter blonde finish and keeps my hair looking healthy.  This so important in dyed blonde hair which can look quite dull and yellow if not maintained properly.
This shampoo is not harsh on the hair which I’m comparison to other toning shampoos is amazing! It’s toning strength is not too crazy, you won’t end up with random purple splotches on your hair definitely! But it still removes most of the brassiness! An added bonus is that it doesn’t stain the shower which I love!
Great everyday product, I noticed after three days that there was was no brassiness. Would be really interested  if they had a conditioner as well. Awesome that it can be purchased at woollies and Priceline and bot from a salon. Great that it also doesn't dry out your hair.!
I really loved this shampoo, and was surprised as I've used John Frieda shampoos for blondes in the past, which did nothing for my blonde brassy hair and just irritated my scalp. I normally use Fudge Clean Blonde every few washes, and the colour is very similar, a very dark purple, a true toning shampoo unlike some others. I have a very oily scalp, and fine ombre blonde hair down to my waist. I found the shampoo got rid of both the oiliness well, and the brassiness in my highlights. It was probably a bit too harsh to use every single day though. I used it every third day and the brassiness disappeared. Even though it's very dark purple, I didn't have any issues with it staining my shower or anything. I found it gave an ash blonde result as compared to the Fudge one which can sometimes leave slight violet tones if left too long on very light blonde hair. It did leave my hair a bit dry, but all toning shampoos do, so I just made sure to follow it up with a good treatment mask instead of regular conditioner. Otherwise I had no complaints and will definitely continue to use this whenever my hair starts to look brassy. It foams up really well too and I only needed a small amount to clean my whole hair. Love it!
There is no doubt that this shampoo both cleanses and tones the colour of your hair, however it left my hair feeling quite fragile and dry. The positives are the packaging and price point. It's always interesting to try out new purple shampoos to see how they compare! Although I wouldn't buy this myself, it's a great middle range product that would do the job on thicker blonder hair.
The John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for Blonds is a fantastic shampoo for anyone with lightened or highlighted hair. I have streaks of lighter blond through my hair from the sun and found this shampoo to effectively remove unwanted brassy tones and enhance the contrast between the colours in my hair.I often find purple shampoo to be quite stripping or drying and this was certainly not the case with the John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for Blonds. This shampoo lathered really nicely, washed my hair effectively and rinsed clean. It has a subtle, clean scent that wasn’t too over powering. The John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for Blonds is a very highly pigmented blond shampoo but it did not stain my hands or my shower the way that some other highly pigmented blond shampoos do. I really liked that this product was not just a treatment for my blond hair but also a generally lovely shampoo. With other products I will wash first using my preferred non blond shampoo and then go in for a second shampoo with a product for blonds. This product does double duty and means one less product in my shower. Great price point and comparable to salon/higher end quality shampoos. Good sturdy bottle, easy to squeeze and get all the product out easily. Would recommend and repurchase.
This shampoo would be perfect for someone with coloured and/or dry blonde hair. It made my colour a lot less brassy, which is perfect if that’s the effect you’re going for!! My scalp tends to be a little more oily, so finding the right purple shampoo can be tricky, but I must say this is the top of the list so far!!
Most purple shampoos I use in conjuction with a standard shampoo as they don't usually clean your hair very well however this shampoo both cleanses and tones the colour of your hair. I noticed a blonder tone to my hair after two washes which meant I could prolong my salon visit.
I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I have fine coloured hair, which after using this product for 2 weeks was brass free and still healthy. I used the product as both a general shampoo and left in for 15minutes when my brassy tones needed something a little stronger. My hair wasn't dried out after use, which was a lot more than could be said for some of your store products.  The product was easy to dispense, although could at times be too much for a one application. It was a delicious scent, that wasn't too overpowering and left you with that new salon smell.  I will be purchasing product again, and definitely recommend for other blondes.
This shampoo made my blonde brighter. The smell is delicious and the packaging is convenient. The product itself is purple, and when I applied it to my hair, everywhere was purple! I left it in for 2-3 minutes and it did make my hair slightly brighter. Unfortunately, it made my hair go quite purple quickly though and made my scalp a bit itchy, Overall, it did work but just didn't work for my hair type as I think my hair absorbed too much of it due to its condition.
This is hands down one of the most effective toning shampoos for blondes - and I've tried a lot. I have very light blonde hair prone to quite a lot of brasiness, and this shampoo knocks so much of it out after one go, which is more than I can say for most of the other products I've tried. It's affordable, smells nice, and actually does what it says it will do. What's not to love?
I received this product as part of the Beauty Crew Review Crew programme, although at $17.99 this product comes in at a price point I can get on board with. My hair has a light brown base with blonde highlights throughout. These lighter sections tend to go slightly brassy, so I tend to reach for the Fudge Purple Shampoo 1-2 times a week to keep the brassiness under wraps. But after trying the John Frieda Purple Shampoo I'm converted! I love how soft and clean my hair feels after using this shampoo. With others I often wash my hair with a normal shampoo as well to fully clean my hair. With this, I don't have to!  I also love that you only need to keep it on for 2-3 minutes. With the colour I have, 2-3 minutes is more than enough to keep brassiness at bay and I don't have to spend 10 minutes wasting water in the shower waiting for it to sit on my hair.  My new favourite toning shampoo!
I got this in a trial. It isn’t bad but not as good as what I was already using (Matrix Silver Shampoo). I think it dried out my hair more which as I blonde I obviously don’t like and my hair had more yellow tones than usual. Overall it was okay and good for a shampoo available in a shop vs salon. It smelt alike many purple shampoos and packaging easy to use.
