Forget accessorising with statement jewellery: this season, dress up your outfit with hair accessories that range from small and subtle, to large and ornate pieces that really pack a punch. Here are our favourite celebrity-inspired looks…
Velvet ribbons rocked the international runways this year. Get the look at home with a thick piece of ribbon (about three centimetres wide), and tie it in a knot around your hair elastic to add an elegant touch to an upstyle.
Can’t pick a favourite hair clip? Why not wear all of them at the same time. Like Rihanna, stack them on top of each other to give a simple hairstyle a statement finish.
This accessorised hairstyle is perfect for long hair. First, tie your hair back as you normally would with a black elastic, then finish by tying several more hair ties down the length of your ponytail.
Instead of earrings or a chunky necklace, try floral clips for a glamorous, boho look. The most elegant colour to go for this season is a metallic; gold looks great with both blonde and brunette hair.
Bored of black or brown bobby pins? Up the ante like American actress Morgan Saylor with a set of coloured pins arranged in a cross formation to stand out from the crowd.
The pop singer isn’t one to be subtle on the red carpet. Dress up a black LBD with a large silver clip to lock your bun in place, and add oversized earrings to match.
It may look like an optical illusion, but these round ring hair clips work well to dress up a loose French braid. Our tip: try rings of different sizes to keep your hairstyle interesting.
