How to avoid shiny skin

You're probably making this major mistake

There’s nothing worse than looking in the mirror around midday and seeing that glistening/annoying/goddamn-heartbreaking shine on your T-zone. Right when you thought your makeup situation was looking pretty strong.

The good news? We’ve just been blessed with a little insider secret that may just turn out to be the best skin care trick you’ve ever heard.

In a recent behind-the-scenes video with Harper's Bazaar US, actress and forever-flawless Priyanka Chopra opened up her little black book to share “all the people and practices that help me live a beautiful life.”

One of the main weapons she has for glowing skin? Celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who let us all in on a clever trick we needed to know, like, yesterday.

While prepping Priyanka’s skin before foundation, Dubroff (whose other clients include Margot Robbie and Natalie Portman) said, "Moisturiser is important but you don't put it everywhere.”

Wait, what?

Dubroff only pats moisturiser on the areas where Priyanka needs it - the outer edges of her face. Why? Dubroff says, “You don't want a shiny centre, so moisturiser on the perimeter of the face. Hydration in the areas where you want the glowiness.”

So. Damn. Simple.

She then reaches for a mattifying primer, which she applies along Priyanka’s T-zone and the centre of her face. “Mattification in the centre, where you're going to want to be more matte, but you don't want to use a lot of powder, because powder is so ageing,” she explains.

So, after years of lapping on moisturiser and wondering why the heck our skin was so shiny post-makeup, turns out we simply need only moisturise around the edges of the face. Voilà!

Look at you, all shine-free and stuff!
