The routine every skin type should follow

ADVERTORIAL: You’re just three steps away from a flawless complexion

We all know that smooth, soft, and clear skin comes from a diligent skin care routine (and making sure our diet is filled with nutrient-rich foods). But when it comes to actually compiling said routine, things can get a little confusing. With so many different kinds of products on the market – each targeted to different skin types and concerns – it can be hard to wrap your head around an easy-to-use regimen that will be followed day in and day out.

And that’s where Clinique has made it easy for you, with a three-step skin care routine created for four different skin types: very dry/dry, dry combination, combination oily, and oily.

“Good skin care pays off. Daily, in cleaner and fresher skin. And over time, skin is going to look healthier, longer."

Designed to be used together, twice a day, following these three steps will give you the foolproof skin care routine you can follow for smoother, healthier and more radiant skin.

1

Cleanse

We all know its the essential first step in any skin care routine, but have you ever wondered why its really necessary? Cleansing will help remove impurities, dirt and makeup, which, if left unattended, can lead to breakouts, dullness, and the premature signs of ageing.

The Clinique Facial Soaps – in both liquid and bar soap form – should be used with warm water to wash the face, then thoroughly rinsed off to leave skin fresh, not taut, dry or uncomfortable. The cleanser is available in Extra Mild for very dry and dry skin types, Mild for dry combination skin, and Oily Skin Formula for oily and combination oily skin types.

Exfoliate

Yes, exfoliate. You may have expected toning to be the second step in your routine, but the secret to healthy skin is in very gentle twice-daily liquid exfoliation. Suitable for all skin types, the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1.0 (or as Clinique calls it the ‘Difference Maker’), helps uncover new skin cells, while removing dead ones, leaving skin clear and radiant.

To use the clarifying lotion, simply dampen a cotton ball or pad with the lotion, and sweep it over your face and neck.

Replenish

By now your skin will be feeling soft, clean and refreshed, but no skin care routine is complete without the finishing touch of moisturiser. And the trick to getting maximum impact is using a moisturiser that’s best suited to your skin type. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream will give the nourishment needed for very dry and dry skin types, while Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ is a great option for dry combination skin, and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel will offer oil-free hydration to those with oily and combination oily skin (because your skin still needs hydration, too).

So what kind of results can you expect to see after following these three steps? According to Clinique, after one week of twice-a-day 3-Step Skin Care System use, dry patches and flakiness are gone for dry combination skin types, while those with oily skin will see less midday shine and a reduction in the appearance of pores. After two weeks, dry patches will have disappeared, fine, dry lines softened, and oily areas are more balanced.

And when your skin is more balanced, the more radiant your complexion when youre bare-faced and the better the canvas for your makeup, so this whole diligent skin care thing is pretty much a no-brainer.
