We love Aldi’s special buys. But you know what we’re not fans of - getting hooked on one of their face creams only to find out it's limited edition and there’s a slim chance of a repeat buy. Shame on you Aldi for getting us hooked and then making a girl wait a whole year before she can repurchase (that is, *if* she beats the mob of other converts).
The Aldi face cream we’re talking about (ok, whinging about) is the Lacura Caviar Face Cream and it’s been hailed as a cheap dupe for La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Luxe Cream. Yes, the affordable $19.99 face cream has been likened to a $690 tub of La Prairie skin care. You can see why the stuff has literally flown off shelves every time Aldi has brought it back.
And while it’s hard to believe a formula that’s literally hundreds of dollars cheaper can possibly compare, these Aldi Caviar face cream reviews speak for themselves.
“This is honestly the best face cream I have ever used in my life,” said one fan on social media.
“I’ve scrapped all the fancy products lately & I’ve just been using a basic facial wash morning and night paired with Lacura Caviar day cream - GIRLS this product is amazing,” shared another.
“As a skincare junkie I would 💯recommend this @aldi Lacura Caviar day and night cream. It’s rich but lightweight and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. It’s premium performance skincare at a price point open to all!! It gives you lovely soft, smooth skin while battling the wrinkles!! Defo one for the over 40’s!!”
While the Lacura Caviar Illumination Day Cream and Lacura Caviar Illumination Night Cream have definitely garnered the most attention, they’re not the only Aldi skin care (and cosmetics) products worth waiting in line for.
Last year, four of Aldi’s Lacura products were voted among the best beauty products for 2019. And thankfully, none of them are limited edition: Lacura Skin Science Renew Expert Wrinkle Smoother, Lacura Skin Science Renew Expert Eye Gel; Lacura Beauty 24hr Mascara Volume and Lacura Beauty 24hr Mascara Waterproof.
Lacura is Aldi’s makeup and skin care range and it covers off all the essentials - face wash, moisturiser, serum, foundation, mascara, lipstick and more. In the permanent line, nothing is priced over $9.99 and the cheapest buys are the cleansing wipes (there are three types), which cost a mere $1.69 each.
While we have no idea if and when the cult Illuminating Caviar Cream will be back (it was last released in May this year and seems to only make an appearance once a year), you can bet we’ll be first in line.
If you love a good beauty dupe, this Korean hair treatment is being compared to Olaplex, and we’ve found an oily skin care essential that rivals Glossier’s Solution.
What’s the best face cream you’ve ever used? Do you have any other great skin care dupes to share?
