She’s a hair chameleon

Killer vocals aside, princess of pop Ariana Grande has a seriously enviable head of hair. Best known for her voluminous sky-high ponytail, it’s no secret that the 30-year-old songstress takes great pride in her long, luscious locks.
After making her industry debut in the 2008 Broadway musical 13, over the past 15 years, Grande has continued to serve us serious hair inspo.
While the taut, slicked-back pony is reserved as the artist’s failsafe ‘do, true Arianators know that she boasts quite an extensive hairstyle resume. The hair chameleon has rocked everything from crimson to platinum - and managed to look good in it all (unfortunately, we can’t relate).
Take a look at her hair journey, from 2008 to now…
A baby-faced Grande embraced her natural, dark curls back in her Broadway days.
After landing the role of Cat Valentine in Victorious, the then-16-year-old made a complete hair 180. She debuted a head of freshly-dyed and straightened crimson hair at the Fantastic Mr Fox premiere.
Three months after Victorious hit our screens, Grande appeared on the MTV Movie Awards carpet with long, waist-length hair. She amped up her character’s signature look with the help of some extensions. Dyed to match her red-velvet-coloured hair, the bright shade mimicked her character’s favourite cupcake flavour. Now, that’s iconic.
Newly dyed hair is a sign of one thing… transformation. For the actress, this signified the start of her new singing chapter.
A year later, fresh on the pop scene, Grande launched her first album and, more importantly to us beauty devotees, new signature hairstyle. Channeling some serious 2013 energy (iykyk), the artist was a convert to the half-up pony. She later revealed that her strong loyalty to the style was a result of the hair damage accrued from constantly dyeing her hair.
Don’t freak out, don’t freak out, Ariana Grande wore her hair curly! For the first time in seven years, the singer finally gave fans a (rare) glimpse of her natural hair texture.
The high pony; reimagined. Single-handedly sparking a hair ring trend, three tight mini braids feed into a Rapunzel-worthy ponytail. Boy, does that look heavy!
Elsa, is that you? In line with her fourth album release, Grande dyed her hair a stark platinum.
This is a true intergalactic beauty moment. Statement wing aside, the wet-look wavy hair and lavender highlights capture all the attention.
The side-swept bang has made a comeback! The Voice judge went back to her (dark) roots with a slicked-back high pony, sans extensions.
Grande blessed her fans with another glimpse at her natural curls. Don’t mind us as we attempt to recreate this ethereal, loose-tendril look.
And we’re back to blonde. Marking her return to acting, the Don’t Look Up star will be playing Glinda the Good Witch in the two-part film adaptation of Wicked.
