Bella Hadid’s makeup artist's 3-step bronzer trick

Who knew it could be so easy?

Vincent Oquendo is a celebrity makeup artist with a clientele list that includes the likes of Bella Hadid, Suki Waterhouse and Barbara Palvin. So when he sat down with Allure and revealed the three step bronzing technique he swears by, we sat up and listened. Here’s how to look bronzed year-round.

1

Start with your base

Oquendo starts by applying a tinted moisturiser over the entire face and blends the remainder down the neck. When picking the perfect shade, he recommends colour-matching to your face, not your neck.  "Women put sunscreen on their faces, necks, and décolletages, but when you think about it, you never get sun on your neck when you're walking around," he says.

2

Add some shimmer

Too add some serious shimmer to your bronzed look, Oquendo recommends using the Mario Badescu Summer Shine Body Lotion on your face, and then continuing to apply the formula all over your body. It has a colour-free shimmer that gives your skin a luminous glow and will complement your bronzed makeup. Make sure to wait a minute or two to let the lotion dry and lightly blot off any excess with paper towel. “You don’t want the skin to be wet for the next step,” advises Oquendo.

3

Finish with powder

For the final step you’ll need a powder bronzer like Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Les Saharienne Bronzing Stones. Blend it all over, focusing on the cheekbones and any other spots that need extra warmth, like the neck, where Oquendo stresses it’s important to “marry the colours” from the face to the neck.
