With its ability to instantly boost the luminosity of skin, who could hate on shimmer? We’re pretty obsessed with anything glitter-related (as observed here, here and here), and lately we’ve become fixated on shimmery cheek compacts that can highlight cheeks and really give that lit-from-within glow. Here are our absolute favourites:
Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder in 002 Holo Gold
This pretty compact from Dior may have a steep price tag, but we promise you it’s worth every dollar. The rose gold colour looks absolutely gorgeous when buffed into cheeks, or you can even use it on your eyes and down the bridge of your nose as a highlight. What also makes this compact irresistible is its super creamy formula, which glides onto skin smoothly like a gel. Can you tell that we can’t get enough of this product?!
MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb
Featuring teeny tiny flecks of shimmer, the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish is an absolute delight to apply and blend on top of foundation. Go for the shade Superb (pictured) if you’re looking for a compact with a rosy tinge, or Glow With It is another good option if you want a poppy orange-based hue.
Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter
For those with olive skin, this golden compact from Maybelline New York should be your go-to. Here’s what our Review Crew® member Gabriella thought about this product: “This highlighter is such a gorgeous, golden, metallic shade, which looks absolutely amazing when applied to my skin. I used this highlighter over the top of my foundation and as an eyeshadow and also as a luminous base. When applied on top of my foundation it created a dewy, all-over glow, which lasted all day!” We’re sold.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Rose Gold
Becca can do no wrong when it comes to highlighters, and their Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter is no exception. Not only does it feel lightweight to wear, but the formula is so finely-milled there’s no chance of it catching or clumping on your skin as you blend it into your complexion.
Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Seduction
Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Seduction is one of Laura Mercier’s best-sellers for good reason: the warm, caramel shade can boost medium, olive and darker skin tones, the formula can be built up to a metallic sheen on cheeks and eyes, and the large size of the compact means you won’t run out for months and months (and months).
Psst... you've got until June 30 2018 to stock up on all Laura Mercier products as the brand will be leaving the Australian market. You can stock up on your favourite products at David Jones, Sephora and Adore Beauty.
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby
One of our favourite products from Fenty Beauty is their Freestyle Highlighter Duos, and Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby takes the cake for universally wearable all thanks to the peachy-gold colours inside. What we also love about this combination is that it comes in a slightly-shimmery formula on one side - which you can use as a highlighter during the day, along with a super-shimmery colour on the other side - which is a great nighttime option.
