The Met Gala after party dished out a HEAP of epic hair looks
Your fave celebs did not disappoint

Just when you thought those Met Gala beauty looks couldn’t be topped, the sun went down and the celebs kicked on with even more campy looks for the post-Met Gala festivities.
And while there was no shortage of costume changes (ahem, Katy Perry changed into a cheeseburger ensemble, just cuz) and glamorous makeup looks (did you see Priyanka Chopra’s disco makeup?), it was the unpredictable hair looks that *really* caught us off-guard.
Here are some of our faves - they’re seriously EPIC and too good not to share.
Kylie Jenner’s aqua hair
It wouldn’t be a list of epic hair looks without the hair colour chameleon herself. After wowing every damn soul with her straight violet ‘do, Kylie went back to her (blue) roots and re-appeared with bright aqua hair – and ooft it looks good. Not straying too far from her Met Gala look, the beauty mogul matched her wig to her outfit (and feathers) and looked like an *actual* mermaid (but like, chic).
Kim Kardashian’s tinsel hair
Fact: Kim is OBSESSED with Cher (just have a scroll through her Insta/check out her Halloween look from 2017), so it’s only right that her after party look paid homage to the legendary songstress. And while her skin-tight neon blue dress was a serious head-turner, the best part of her look had to be her hair. She wore a blue and silver tinsel wig, with beads cascading down from her bangs to the ends. So. Extra. It’s genuinely the best party hair we’ve ever seen.
Gemma Chan’s pink dip-dyed hair
Um did Gemma Chan chop and dye her hair after the Met Gala?! Because she now has a dip-dyed pastel pink lob and we LOVE it. Dyed from the mid-lengths to tips, the surprising hair look created a stunning contrast between her chocolate brown roots, and we cannot get enough of this new hairstyle on her. Considering her hair was lob-length pre-Met, does that mean her red carpet hair was the work of hair extensions? But then how did she switch up her colour so quickly? Wig? Magic? So many questions and SO much love for this whole entire look. Full marks, Gemma.
Joan Smalls’ super high snatched ponytail
We’re just going to come out and say it: Joan Smalls wins the ponytail game. Ditching her black feathery headpiece for the after party, the model stuck with her enviable ponytail from her red carpet appearance. And we can totally see why. It featured three sets of braids that formed one giant plait, with loose wavy extensions thrown into the mix for quite possibly the most voluminous number we’ve ever seen. It’s not like your regular ponytail, it’s a cool ponytail.
Dua Lipa’s bouffant
If you rocked up to the red carpet with a bouffant like Dua Lipa, you ain’t brushing it out in a hurry. The singer turned heads when she brought her ‘60s-inspired hairstyle out on the town, switching up her headpiece for a smaller (but still wonderfully glitzy) flowered hair accessory. Side note: That purple winged eyeliner is EVERYTHING. Jussst enough camp.
Hailee Steinfeld’s voluminous curls
You have curls, then you have CURLS. Hailee Steinfeld brought those voluminous, teased locks from the red carpet to the post-Met festivities, and it was an entire *lewk* on its own. While she wore her curls out loose for the Gala, she switched it up for the after party and styled them into a glorious high ponytail. Not only did this hairstyle work to show off her amazing features (hello, cheekbones!), but it’s the easiest way to keep your hair out of your face when you hit up the d-floor with all your famous pals.
Donatella Versace’s neon green hair
The Kardashian-Jenner clan weren’t the only ones who experimented with neon hair colours. Donatella Versace donned neon green-dipped hair on the red carpet, which made for a statement look for her after party appearance. Psst…the after party actually turned into a belated birthday bash for the fashion queen, with Rita Ora casually singing her “Happy Birthday”. No biggie.
