We’ve got our eyes on the prize

Just because you’re spending more time at home due to lockdown doesn’t mean you can’t spoil yourself with a little beauty gift (or two, or several) to perk up your mood. In fact, we recommend doing so: sometimes all it takes is a nourishing mask, a beautiful at-home blow-dry or a sweep of highlighter to make your day. Here are the best beauty products to hit shelves this month.
Givenchy Prismissime Eyeshadow Palette in No 2
While neutral eyeshadow palettes will forever have a place in our hearts, this Givenchy palette really caught our eye this month all thanks to the clever addition of emerald green amongst staple shades like shimmery gold and matte black. The jewel-toned colour surprisingly works on all eye colours - yep, even blue and brown - and can be used as just an accent colour along the lower lash line or blended all over the lids for a pop of colour. Available April 12.
Matrix Dark Envy Shampoo
So you’ve heard of using a purple shampoo on blonde hair to nix brassiness, but what about a green-based shampoo to maintain the depth of colour when you have dark brunette or black hair? It may sound weird, but stay with us here - looking on the colour wheel, the opposite colour to green is red, which means that a green-based product like this Matrix shampoo can actually neutralise red tones (which are naturally present in darker hair colours) and make your hair look more cool-toned.
Trilogy Vitamin C Polishing Powder
Here’s something that you can use to brighten *and* smooth your skin in the shower. Trilogy Vitamin C Polishing Powder consists of a blend of rice starch and ascorbic acid that you mix with a few drops of warm water to create an exfoliating milk that gently removes dead skin cells and makes your skin glow.
Biologique Recherche Serum de Teint
A product that perfectly marries the benefits of a hydrating serum with ultra-light coverage that looks natural is really hard to come by, but Biologique Recherche Serum de Teint has really satisfied our wishes this month. Press (don’t rub) this lightly-tinted solution into your skin to quickly smooth the surface and even out skin tone.
Maison Francis Kurkdijan Baccarat Rouge 540 Candle
Maison Francis Kurkdijan’s Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP is one of the brand’s most recognisable scents, so we were ecstatic when we saw that Maison Francis Kurkdijan launched this matching candle. Now it’s easier than ever to transform your room into an opulent space filled with notes of jasmine, sandalwood, cedarwood and ambergris.
CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Considering two products in their range - the Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF 15 and the Moisturising Lotion PM - received a whopping 4.5 stars from our Review Crew®, we had a feeling CeraVe’s newest product, the Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum, would be a winner too. And we weren’t wrong; the silky formula features three ceramides along with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to lock in hydration *and* keep skin feeling soft.
Fenty Beauty Match Stix Glow Skinstick in Purrrl
Gone are the days of stripey contouring and highlighting across your cheeks; say hello to glistening skin that looks gorgeously glowing with Fenty Beauty Match Stix Glow Skinstick in Purrrl. Application is simple as pie - swipe the product straight onto cheekbones to bring your complexion to life, then use your fingers (or a fluffy blush) to blend it into your foundation for a more natural finish. Available April 14.
Vida Glow Marine Collagen Collection
Looking for a way to boost the health of your skin, hair and nails? An ingestible form of marine collagen may do the trick. Vida Glow’s Marine Collagen Collection features 30 servings of Marine Collagen in Peach, Blueberry and Original (flavourless). Just stir a sachet into a glass of water or mix it with your favourite smoothie. Easy.
Nude by Nature 19 Round Liquid Foundation Brush
A natural-looking foundation application comes down to the tool you’re using, and one of Nude by Nature’s newest launches, the Round Liquid Foundation Brush, can help you ace your base. Expect synthetic bristles that feel baby-soft, and a luxurious handle that is comfortable to hold. Available April 26.
Mary Grace Vintage 66
COVID-19 has encouraged us to not only look after ourselves but also the community we live in, which is why Mary Grace Vintage 66 has earned a spot in this month’s gallery. It may look like an ordinary hand sanitiser (and kudos to them - the product is recommended by the World Health Organisation), but each sale actually supports three Australian family-owned businesses in rural towns.
The new Samsung S20 is no ordinary phone; with a whopping five-camera feature (four at the back and one at the front) that captures everything from ultra-wide landscapes to little details up nice and close, you’re bound to get the perfect shot in one go. A big shout-out goes to the Single Take function which captures content for 10 seconds and saves a combination of photos and videos that it thinks are the best shots within that time frame. Talk about a perfect selfie, every single time.
ghd helios professional hair dryer in neo-mint
Pastel-coloured appliances shouldn’t just be reserved for your kitchen bench. The ghd helios professional hair dryer in neo-mint is the ultimate addition to your bathroom shelfie. It’s a lightweight yet powerful styling tool that can dry, smooth and tame hair. What really sets it apart is the special technology inside the power motor that creates airflow that travels up to 120 kilometres per hour, meaning it will dry your hair a whole lot faster.
Revlon Super Lustrous The Luscious Mattes
We’ll take any product that can brighten up our mood during lockdown, which is why a bright red lippie - specifically, Revlon Super Lustrous The Luscious Mattes in On Fire - deserves a mention this month. A single swipe across lips will reveal a smooth and creamy bullet that offers *loads* of pigment and won’t leave your smackers feeling chapped thanks to ingredients like agave, moringa oil and cupuacu butter.
Alkira Mineral Radiance Facial Masque
If you’re into products that feature Australian botanical ingredients and have a vegan-friendly and cruelty-free formula, then you’re going to want to put Alkira on your radar. In particular, the Mineral Radiance Facial Masque has caught our eye; it combines the brightening powers of finger lime caviar and Kakadu plum with antioxidant-rich quandong to nourish skin.
