The product

Your foundation has a big job to do every day. It needs to cover up imperfections and give you a flawless, even skin tone; it needs to look just as good in the evening as it did when you applied it in the morning; and it needs to look natural on your skin – no cakiness or telltale signs. And hey, if it can hydrate your skin and give you SPF protection while it’s at it, well then that would be ace. COVERGIRL's Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation does all of the above with its vitamin-infused formula and delivers a beautiful luminous glow that leaves your skin looking healthy all day.

Beauty Crew sent COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation to women aged 25 to 34 who wanted to not just cover up their imperfections, but improve their skin underneath, too.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about the COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation:

How great the coverage was: Members were fans of the medium to full coverage this foundation gave, with some noting that they didn’t have to apply concealer like they normally would because the formula provided enough coverage to even out their skin tone and cover up imperfections like redness. Even though it provided high coverage, our Review Crew® said it still felt lightweight on their skin and gave them a natural, dewy finish that they loved.

That the formula had SPF 20 in it: Not just pleased with its great price tag, our Review Crew® members were glad this foundation included SPF 20 protection, which gave them peace of mind that their skin was protected throughout the day.

The staying power of the foundation: This foundation received high praise for how well it lasted throughout the day. A few members even made mention of how well it held up on sunny and humid days.

Good to know: Many of the review team commented on how well the shade they were given matched their skin tone, however, some mentioned that the shade range is a little darker than most foundations so a colour match is recommended.

“This foundation is a great cheaper alternative to the luxury brands on the market. Smells delicious and offers full coverage, yet feels light on the skin when applied. It lasted all day and into the night, which is always a bonus.”

“This is my new go-to for everyday/work foundation. It's lightweight and easy to build the coverage you'd like and dries with a flawless matte yet dewy finish. You only need to apply a small amount to cover blemishes and pigmentation. I wore this foundation while walking around [for] most of the day in the hot sun and was amazed at how well it stayed on, and the SPF element protected my face from sunburn. The only element I didn't like was the scent - I found the floral a little too intense. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable, everyday foundation with great coverage.”

“This foundation has replaced my $60 foundation as my everyday go-to! The first thing you notice is how beautifully fragranced it is, which was a pleasantly unexpected surprise. This foundation blends so easily and leaves my skin feeling fresh and allows it to breathe, even after a 12-hour day at work! Most foundations leave me looking oily after a long day but not this one: I look as good at 8pm as I did at 8am.
