All the best Eras Tour hair looks inspired by every Taylor Swift album

10 hairstyles to complete your outfit

BEAUTYcrew Beauty & Social Editor / February 19 2024

Happy Eras week to all who celebrate! Aussie Swifties are finally getting to experience the event of the decade – no, century – and, in case you couldn't tell, we're among the lucky ones who survived the great (ticket) war. We've tracked down Swift's favourite red lipstick, our nails have been Swift-ified and our Eras Tour makeup inspo is sorted. The only thing missing? The perfect hairstyle to complete our outfits.

Although we may not be blessed with Swift's golden (and always on-point) mane, we'll still be looking to her best hair looks and most iconic moments to inspire our Eras Tour hairstyles. Scroll on for all the inspo you need to create a look that will capture the essence of every era...

'Taylor Swift' (AKA Debut) era

Universal Music

Curly hair girls, this one's for you. Swift's 'Debut' era is all about embracing your natural texture – think tousled curls and side-swept bangs finished with a glossy, golden sheen. Prefer a more refined look? Opt for a mini curler or straightener to nail the tight curl synonymous with Swift's "Teardrops On My Guitar" look.

  • Cloud Nine The Mini Iron, $299 at Cloud Nine
  • ghd Shiny Ever After Final Shine Spray, $40 at Sephora
  • Hot Tools 24K 10mm Curling iron, $100 at Adore Beauty

'Fearless' era hair

When we think 'Fearless', we think gold glitter, rhinestone guitars and long, bouncy curls. The key to perfecting Swift's signature look? Using a thin straightener or curling wand. But there's one key curling step you'll want to skip. "Do not brush the curls," says Cloud Nine Ambassador Marie Nieuwoudt. Using a comb or brush will make the curls drop, "but you can use your fingers at the root area to shake out some volume". And voila, curls made for a love story.

'Speak Now' era hair

With songs like "Enchanted" and "Long Live", this era calls for some serious fairytale looks. Start with a loose curl and embellish your mane with butterflies, glitter and a baby braid or two. Our inspo for the 'Speak Now' era? Olivia Rodrigo's iconic 2022 Met Gala look.

'Red' era hair

Okay, so this one depends on whether you're an OG 'Red' or a Taylor's Version Swiftie. Personally, we'll be opting for a sleek, straight style with bangs (obviously), but adding a blow wave is also optional. Either way, we'll all still be sobbing our way through 10 minutes of "All Too Well".

'1989' era hair

Swift's '1989' era taught us that a wavy bob never goes out of style, so much so that she recreated the signature look at the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film premiere. If you're rocking a bob, this style will be effortless to recreate. If not, you'd better stock up on those hair pins...

  • VS Sassoon Frizz Defense Hot Air Styler, $76.46 at Myer
  • Lady Jayne Bobby Pins, Brown, $2.99 at Chemist Warehouse
  • Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, $46 at Sephora

'Reputation' era hair

'Reputation' is Swift's best revenge album yet, which calls for some major drama when it comes to your hair. Channel "Look What You Made Me Do" vibes with a slicked, wet hair look. Keep in mind there is an art to nailing the look and embodying Medusa rather than a drowned rat, but don't worry, we've got a full step-by-step of how to create enameled hair.

  • ColorWOW Pop & Lock High Gloss Serum, currently $33.60 (usually $42) at Adore Beauty

'Lover' era hair

This era is all about falling in love, and with a palette of pinks, blues and purples, it calls for some serious colour – and glitter – in all aspects of your costume. Not ready to commit to Swift's 'Lover' cover pastel tips? We get it. Try adding some glitter spray to ends of your hair instead, or opt for tinsel hair for a pop of sparkle if you're not too keen on finding glitter in your bed, shower and car for weeks after the concert.

'Folklore' era hair

@taylorswift

The brief for the 'Folklore' era? Woodland fairytale meets Tumblr girl. Twin low buns are the signature style of this era, which is perfect for day three (or even four) hair. You'll need to start with some texture so a wave spray will come in very handy. If your hair isn't naturally wavy, use a curling wand or straightener to add some dimension before sweeping your locks back into loose buns. Bonus points if you have bangs.

'Evermore' era hair

@taylorswift

As far as simplicity goes, 'Evermore' takes the cake when it comes to the aesthetic – although the opposite can be said of the lyrics ("Champagne Problems" still cuts deep). A simple French braid is all it takes to master the 'Evermore' look, which, again, is perfect for lazy girlies. If your roots are a little greasy, a quick spritz with some dry shampoo is all it takes to refresh and add a hint of volume.

  • Amika Perk Up Plus Extended Clean Dry Shampoo, $50 at Sephora

'Midnights' era hair

"Bejeweled" is the brief for the 'Midnights' era, and yes, that includes your hair. We're taking hair (and makeup) inspo straight from Swift's iconic music video and opting for a centre part, slicked front and loose waves embellished with gems. More is more when it comes to this era, which means the limit of glitter, diamantes and sparkles doesn't exist.

Bonus era: 'The Tortured Poets Department'

So we're not 100 per cent sure what aesthetic Swift's upcoming album 'The Tortured Poets Department' will channel. But given her black and white look at the Grammys (where she announced the album) and song names like "Clara Bow", a 1920s Hollywood starlet, we're getting Parisian beauty vibes. Think bows, baby braids and loose, textured waves.
