The $48 Aussie beauty buy behind Florence Pugh's greatest glam looks

We’ve never been prouder of our nation

Hollywood may seem like a magical place where skin concerns simply cease to exist, but even once-in-a-generation talents like Florence Pugh get oily every so often. Add in the pressure of a red carpet and the literal heat stemming from the lights and cameras, and it's no wonder that shine levels rise and makeup often melts away.

Luckily, one of the Little Women star's go-to makeup artists, Naoko Scintu, has a few oil-combatting tricks up her sleeve. And one of them even happens to be an Australian formula! Here’s Pugh’s red carpet base routine…

Florence Pugh’s red carpet base routine

Scintu has one major goal during Pugh’s glam sessions: keep her skin fresh from the second she steps onto the carpet to the moment she heads home.

"Florence truly has one of the most gorgeous faces, with her big eyes and full lips," she shared in a conversation with Refinery29. "My whole approach is about enhancing her natural beauty, and that starts with a fresh skin base."

So how does she ensure her base stays fresh? By choosing the right products!

First up is foundation. "I love SUQQU [Nude Wear] Liquid Ex Foundation ($73 at Selfridges) on Florence," Scintu revealed. "It's a Japanese brand but they sell it at Harrods and Selfridges in London, and the finish is beautiful — so lightweight and fresh."

Next comes concealer. Scintu’s fave? It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer ($50 at Sephora). "I love this concealer, and I always use it on Florence, because it's full coverage but wears like bare skin," she explained.

Here’s that Aussie must-have we were hyping up! Our Pugh-powered patriotism is sky high after learning that an Australian beauty buy is actually the secret sauce to prolonging her glam looks. And it’s less than 50 bucks!

"Jurlique's Rose Silk [Finishing] Powder ($48 at Jurlique) is amazing because it's clean and natural, and made with only Australian botanical ingredients, so it mattifies excess oil without clogging pores," Scintu noted. It’s definitely a dreamy formula – it adds a soft-focus finish to any makeup look while locking it in for the long haul and nixing any surface oiliness (both in the moment and as it occurs later).

So that’s how Pugh’s foundation still looks every bit as fresh at an after-party as it does on a carpet! And for once, the products are easy to find here in Australia!
