Get the look: Makeup from Dior's A/W 16/17 show

Follow Dior’s lead and try this dark and moody look

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / April 11 2016

Forget barely-there makeup; this season, it’s all about bold, vampy colours that can add a jolt of attitude to your pretty getup. The models at Dior looked more polished this season than previous shows, all thanks to the winning combination of gorgeous “I-woke-up-like-this” skin, lashings of mascara, and a dark, plum lip - something that’s seriously impressive, but surprisingly a cinch to achieve at home.

The trick to modernising this classic look? Add dimension with a pigmented lip gloss packed with teensy reflective particles that’ll pack a punch, even from afar.

Here’s how to get the look…

1

Create the canvas

Start with some makeup primer, then follow with some foundation (like Dior Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation), and cover problem spots with concealer.

2

Set the look

Finish your base with a dusting of loose powder to ensure that your foundation stays on all day.

4

Prep your peepers

Curl your lashes, then apply a lash primer right before mascara.

5

Define your eyes

Immediately follow with several coats of volumising mascara on both upper and lower lashes for maximum volume.

6

Colour it in

Casually apply a light wash of colour to your eyelids with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.

7

Groom your brows

Use some coloured powder to shade in your brows, filling in any bare spots you may have.

9

Add some colour

Draw an outline of your lips using a dark lip liner (Dior’s Contour Lip Liner in Poison works well for this), then follow with several layers of a matching lipstick, such as Dior Rouge Dior in Poison, and lots of lip gloss on top, such as Dior’s Addict Ultra Gloss in Bulle.
