How Hailee Steinfeld gets her hair SO damn shiny

Especially now that she's a bronde

Editor / December 14 2022

Steinfeld may have nabbed an Oscar nomination at just 14 (wunderkid alert), but we hope her CV also includes 'Shiniest Hair Holder' as well as 'Best Supporting Actress' nominee. Girl's got some acting chops and glossy strands, okay?

However, she did recently make a change that threatened to rob her hair of some of its famous shine, lightening it for the first time in order to swap brunette for bronde. There was a solid reason behind the shade switch, too. "I was about to get into a new music space and [going lighter] just fit this vibe of what I had in my mind," she told Allure about her honey-blonde highlights. "I was excited about the idea of a little change and I love it."

Let's take a look at the transformation, shall we?

Hailee Steinfeld's shiny hair routine

Luckily, Steinfeld was well prepared, turning to a trio of haircare products designed to combat breakage and restore shine, in order to counteract the toll that bleach can take. She's not gatekeeping her gloss-restoring routine, either!

"I have been religiously using Olaplex Bond Maintenance shampoo and conditioner and they have this oil that I use every now and then that I swear by. It's definitely helped keep up the shine and hydration," she told Allure about her recent regimen.

Want to pick the products up for yourself? Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo ($54 at Ultra Beauty), Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner ($54 at Ultra Beauty), and Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil ($54 at Ultra Beauty) are all worth the hype and the spend.

How Hailee Steinfeld gets tousled texture

Steinfeld's routine relies on an affordable beauty buy, too. If, like us, you've spent several years wondering how her hair has such glorious shine and tousled texture all at once (when the two are usually mutually exclusive) we've got great news. She actually relies on a supermarket dry shampoo for texture touch-ups.

"[My] hair stylist Laura Polko is my favourite human. She has stocked me up with Batiste Dry Shampoo," Steinfeld shared with Women's Health. "The mini ones never leave my bag. What I love so much about it is that it completely revives your hair, whether it's clean or not, it just adds this great texture to my natural texture. I absolutely love it."

That's got us sold; we're on our way to grab 12 cans of the Batiste Original Mini Dry Shampoo ($6 at Big W) as well as all the Olaplex we can get our hands on. The forecast sure is looking shiny!
