5 easy, summer-proof hair cuts that'll get you through the warmer months

"This season is all about lived-in, healthy hair"

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / December 15 2025

If the balmy weather wasn't enough of an indicator, summer is here, which means we're revisiting our beauty routines.

We've sniffed out the summer perfumes we want to spritz this season, sorted out the skin care ingredients we should (and shouldn't) be using, and we've even sussed out how to nail a soft summer makeup look too.

And now we're turning our attention to hair, which is why we asked Edwards&Co founder Jaye Edwards to share his top hair cut summer trends.

"I'm seeing a shift from the curtain bangs trend to a more softer, "lived-in" and effortless bangs cut. Think: lighter layers for easier and summer proof styling," the hair expert tells BEAUTYcrew. "My secret to enhance the barely-there glam vibe of these lived-in hair cuts is the Three Warriors Hydrabronze Tan Drops ($39 from Adore Beauty). I tell my clients to mix a few drops in with a moisturiser, and it gives their skin the perfect subtle glow to compliment their natural vibes."

But the hair stylist also wants us to start prioritising scalp health during summer too.

"This season is all about lived-in, healthy hair, which starts with a scalp care — I've been recommending clients to look into hair care products that are non-comedogenic," he explains. "I've been loving the new Amperna Cleanse & Rebalance Dermal Care Shampoo ($50 from Amperna) and Amperna Strengthen & Protect Dermal Care Conditioner ($50 from Amperna), which contains a pre-biotic and post-biotic complex to support a balanced scalp environment, creating the perfect foundation for stronger, smoother, and healthier hair."

"One of my favourite hair care tips for summer is to incorporate products with UV protection, such as the O&M PS Spray ($44.95 from Adore Beauty). I also tell clients to cut down on heat styling, avoid over-washing hair, getting regular trims, and investing in a good scalp care routine," Edwards elaborates.

Got it? Good. Now on to the fun stuff — ahead, discover the top hair cut summer trends to try as the weather warms up.

1/ Scandi Bangs

"Scandi Bangs are the ultimate cool girl haircut; they're wispy, feather-light, and sit slightly shorter through the centre to open up the eyes and cheekbones," says Edwards.

"What I love about this cut is the versatility, you can wear them soft and airy for that Scandi minimalism, or more tousled and textured for a French girl vibe," he tells us. "They instantly modernise any haircut without committing to a full, heavy fringe."

2/ LOB "Long Bob"

"The LOB is timeless for a reason: It’s clean, it’s chic, and it frames the face beautifully," Edwards explains.

"This is the kind of haircut that will need to be personalised to suit your facial features, so the hair moves effortlessly rather than sitting stiff or blocky," he advises.

3/ Bouncy Blowout

"The Bouncy Blowout is iconic for a reason — clients want volume and shine!".

"To achieve it, we combine directional brushing with rounded layers that encourage movement, leaving you with hair that looks full, airy, and incredibly touchable. But the real secret to the perfect bouncy blowdry is healthy hair, and this starts with scalp health," Edwards tells BEAUTYcrew.

4/ Ethereal Waves

"We are always about enhancing the natural texture of our curly haired clients, and working with what they have, rather than against it," says Edwards.

"It's super important to maintain the integrity of their hair, by going for a haircut that works for them and that keeps their hair looking ethereal and healthy. I recommend using the O&M Style Guru ($38.95 from Adore Beauty) for styling ethereal curls," he explains.

5/ Old Money Bob

"The Old Money Bob will be the cut of the year  blending warm, sparkly tones with a voluminous soft bob is something that many clients are booking already," says Edwards.

"Nothing says transformation quite like it, but I recommend blow drying the hair with O&M Rootalicious Root Lift Spray ($42.95 from Adore Beauty) to get that perfect old money volume," the expert advises.
