How To Nail The Orange Monochromatic Look

All you need is one lipstick

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / April 07 2020

If the likes of Cara Delevingne, Chiara Ferragni and Shailene Woodley are wearing it, we want in. From a gentle wash of colour to a fully-fledged cat eye, fiery orange makeup is doing the rounds on the biggest celebs’ faces, and put simply, we can’t get enough of this take-notice-of-me shade. Here’s how to get the look using just one lipstick.

Toolkit

You’ll need an orange lipstick such as Gucci Rouge à Lèvres Mat Lipstick in Agatha Orange, and for those with oily eyelids, we recommend grabbing an orange eyeshadow as well, such as the one found in Sportsgirl Starry Eyed Celebration Eyeshadow Palette.

1

Bring out your smackers

Apply the lipstick straight from the bullet to your lips, or use a lip brush for extra precision. To clean up any feathering, use a flat makeup brush dipped in concealer on the skin around the mouth, working the brush from your Cupid’s bow to the outer corners and below your bottom lip.

2

Colour in your lids

To add colour to your eyes, dab your clean ring finger onto the bullet and pat it onto your lids. You want this to be more of a light wash rather than a heavy hit of colour.

3

Lock in the colour

If you want to intensify the colour or prevent it from moving if you have oily eyelids, press a matching eyeshadow with a flat eyeshadow brush over the lipstick you’ve just applied on your eyes.

4

Don’t forget about your cheeks

With any leftover product on your ring finger, dab it on the apples of your cheeks for a light flush of colour. You don’t want this colour to be as intense as your lips or eyes - go for a less-is-more look.

Et voila!

A monochromatic makeup look, straight from the red carpet.

If you’re looking to simplify your makeup routine, these fumble-proof makeup sticks are just the thing to make your life a whole lot easier.
