4 ways to simplify your beauty routine

Easy tricks to getting more time in your day

Whether you’re pressed for time in the morning, or feel exhausted when you get home from work, it might be a good idea to go back to beauty-basics. Here’s four easy way to save time on your skincare, makeup and hair.

1

Simplify your: Skincare

Sure, the influence of Korean beauty has encouraged us to use up to ten different steps to cleanse, exfoliate, tone, treat and moisturise, but sometimes less is more. To take a break from such an intense routine, try a cleanser like Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser that’s cleverly pH balanced and fragrance-free, making it a top choice for all skin types. The unique formula can also be used with or without water (simply tissue off to remove, if you like), and can even remove light makeup, so there’s definitely no excuse not to go to bed without clean skin. Afterwards, follow with a deeply hydrating moisturiser that’ll treat and protect in one step.

2

Simplify your: Makeup

The key to looking polished is having an even skintone, so put down your blush and bronzer and concentrate on getting your base right, if you’re strapped for time. Look out for multi-tasking products, so instead of layering sunscreen, moisturiser and foundation every morning, try an all-in-one formula that fuses SPF protection, moisturising properties like hyaluronic acid and a light tinted colour that you can use on the daily. We like Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20.

3

Simplify your: Hair

If you have long hair, you can save yourself an extra twenty minutes in the morning with this trick to gorgeous, loose waves, without any hot tools. Before going to bed, simply plait your low-ponytail, secure with a snag-less elastic. Or if your hair is short, separate your hair into small sections and secure into small buns – the tighter the bun, the tighter the curl will be when you muss it up in the morning. When you wake up, gently release your hair and use your fingers to comb through.

4

Simplify your: Nails

Don’t dare to leave the house without a coat of varnish, but sick of fixing chipped nail polish every few days? There are two great solutions here - go for a long-lasting nail polish (we like CND Vinylux) that’ll last for up to a week, or try stick-on nail wraps that’ll stay put for up to two weeks (Jamberry is great for this).
