Kim, Cate and Meghan all *REALLY* rate this foundation

Kim Kardashian Meghan Markle Luminous Silk

And it turns out our readers totally agree

Beauty Crew Editor / August 24 2018

Not knowing anything about the lives of celebrities beyond what we see online, we would hazard a guess that Kim Kardashian and Meghan Markle don’t have too much in common. True, Kim is the reigning ‘queen’ of reality TV and Meghan has recently acquired the royal title of Duchess of Sussex, so they do have that incredibly loose, arbitrary regal connection. But beyond that, they’re probably like chalk and cheese.

Except when it comes to their foundation choice, it would seem.

Both Kim and Meghan have a soft spot for the luxe Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. If you’re thinking that couldn’t possibly be, given Kim’s penchant for a full-coverage look and Meghan’s now-iconic freckly visage, that’s just a testament to the buildability of the foundation.

But just in case you need further proof, we’ve dug deep. Behold!

Kim’s affections for Giorgio Armani’s foundation date back to at least 2015 (please, let’s not forget this panicked and typo-d tweet. Sorry, Mr. Armani):

And while she wasn’t specific about the Luminous Silk in that tweet, she called it out specifically when she revealed to Into the Gloss that the lightweight liquid foundation is right up there in her top beauty products (along with budget Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – who would have thought?!). Since, the $99 bottle has made many an appearance while Kim has had her makeup done by the legendary Patrick Ta (including in tutorials she’s put on her app). According to Teen Vogue, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s shade is a nice mix of shades #7 and #9.

Now, when it comes to the Duchess, her former hairstylist and makeup artist, Lydia F. Sellers told Refinery29 all about Meghan’s fave beauty products, including how she loves to hero those peekaboo freckles while still achieving a glowing finish. "Every time I'd do her makeup, she'd say, 'Can we just make sure my freckles are peeking through? I don't want a ton of foundation,'" she shared. "It was more about the amount of product that went on her skin and keeping it really fresh and dewy, rather than caking it on. So, I'd use the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation with a Beautyblender because it's really easy to sheer out."

And they’re not the only celebs to sing their praises of the cult foundation, Our own Cate Blanchett is known to be a fan (word is she wears shade #2), along with actress Rashida Jones.

Even better? Our members – your peers – seem to agree that this foundation deserves all the accolades it gets, giving it a five-star stamp of approval.

“I absolutely adore this foundation. It feels super lightweight on your skin – almost like you are wearing no foundation. This no-foundation feeling is also added to by the fact that you can wear this without any setting powder. If you are wanting heavier coverage for an evening look, this formula is also very easy to build up. I would absolutely recommend this foundation and think it is such a versatile base that is perfect for creating both a dewy daytime look, and a more polished nighttime look.”

“This foundation is perfect for those wanting something that achieves a balance between lightweight and coverage. It glides onto the skin with an airbrush look and as the coverage is buildable, we can all customise the finish to whatever suits our wants and needs. Great product for those wanting to look immaculate without feeling the cake.”

“The first time I wore this foundation I felt truly radiant, as if my whole face had gone from dull, dry and spotty to completely lit up and flawless. I've had a lot of trouble with blemishes lately so being able to have a foundation that boosted my confidence felt amazing. It's quite light to apply and has a smooth matte finish.”
