The product

Trying to find a foundation that a) matches your skin tone, and b) hides imperfections but is still light enough to actually look like your skin, can be an absolute CHORE. But trust us, when you find the right one it changes absolutely *everything*.

Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation is the answer to all of your ‘no makeup’ makeup dreams. It can hide redness, even out dark spots and camouflage pimples, while also managing to look totally natural.

The secret? The lightweight formula contains unique micro-powders to blur pores and control shine for a flawless, filtered-looking complexion. What’s more, its oil-free formula doesn’t clog the skin, meaning it’s also a great option for those prone to breakouts.

Besides its incredible formula (and its super affordable price), it also comes in a whopping 40 shades to ensure the perfect fit for every skin tone. So if you usually find yourself struggling to find the right colour match, this is your guy.

Our panel of Review Crew® members put this product to the test.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation to a panel of women aged between 18 to 39 years old who are on the search for the right shade of foundation for their skin tone.

The lowdown

Here's what the Review Crew® loved about this matte foundation:

How natural the coverage was: Members were fans of the natural coverage this foundation gave, with some noting that it’s the perfect everyday option for anyone who wants to look like they’re not wearing much makeup. Even though it can be built to a full coverage, our Review Crew® revealed that it was lightweight, smooth and breathable, and their skin still looked like skin after application.

How long-wearing the formula was: Our testers were impressed with how long-wearing the formula was, with many commenting that it didn’t budge even in the most humid conditions. One particular reviewer said, “It stayed on after I had been swimming and lasted the day.”

How perfectly it matched their skin tone: Review Crew® members said they were able to find their perfect match among the 40 shades, with many also commenting on how easy it was to blend the formula for a smooth, matte finish.

Good to know: Some reviewers mentioned they weren’t fond of the packaging as they prefer their foundation to come in a pump bottle.

The verdict

“A very nice texture and consistency, spreads on the skin nicely and blends in beautifully. It helps to minimise the pores, besides giving a flawless finish. My skin doesn't feel loaded or blocked.”

“I have a very oily T-zone PLUS I have enlarged pores. I’ve tried many foundations over the years and can honestly say that this product is the best to control shine and reduce the appearance of large pores. It lasts ages, glides on well and looks so natural.”

“Loved this product! It was so smooth, soft and easy to apply. You can easily build it up, yet it doesn't feel or look cakey. It stays well throughout the day, with minimal shine/oil build up. Skin feels soft after applying, doesn't feel greasy at all throughout the day. Colour match was great, definitely recommend for both a minimalist natural look as well as building to full coverage.”
