We have *this* brand to thank for Phoebe Tonkin’s Vanity Fair lip colour

Old Hollywood Glamour is making a comeback…

Content Producer / March 13 2024

Phoebe Tonkin might’ve given our childhood an extra sparkle of magic, but who would’ve thought that her name (Cleooor) would become almost more iconic than the show itself (sorry H20). Either way, the Aussie star stole our hearts and has became a mainstay on our screens throughout the years.

While Tonkin might’ve skipped the main event, she made sure to head to the Vanity Fair after party (the after parties always seem more fun, right?). And Tonkin sure did Australia proud with her old Hollywood glam-inspired look. Perfectly placed tumbling tresses, that dress and of course the smouldering sensual-yet-simple makeup accented to perfection with that lip.

But what do we have to thank for such a glorious pout? BEAUTYcrew found out, just for you…

Deep Berry Tones

Well first up, we’re going to start off by thanking Shayna Gold, makeup artist to the likes of Daisy Edgar Jones, Alisha Boe and of course, our beloved Phoebe Tonkin, for bringing us this incredible glam look. And while Gold might keep her makeup cards close to her chest, she did reveal the crucial detail to the look: the iconic red-meets-berry lip colour.

This brings us to our next thank you. A huge round of applause and thank you to creator of said lipstick, Byredo. More often known for their iconic scents, the Byredo makeup line shouldn’t be slept on (case in point). This gorgeous deep brown-y-red shade is in the colour 119 Worship Her, which after seeing Tonkin on the Vanity Fair red carpet, we just think we might. Giving a stunning satin-matte finish and a glorious hit of pigmented colour, we just know that you’ll want to get your hands on this silky, lightweight lipstick just as much as we do. You’ll be able to find it at Selfridges for $84.

A worthy lip-loving investment, if you ask us. Maybe it’s our nostalgia (or our love for stellar lip looks), but we’re hoping to see a lot more Tonkin on future red carpets.

Naturally her love for style soon extended to beauty, and Emma landed firmly in the beauty and wellness world thanks to an internship-turned-role at local Australian fragrance brand Maison Blanche. One thing that remained consistent whether unpacking accessories or creating social content? Her commitment to an always-perfect manicure. Luckily, she’s since turned her talents to helping her readers achieve the same, writing about all things beauty and wellness. Emma is now a Content Producer for BEAUTYcrew, with her words and recommendations also appearing across beautyheaven. Emma loves the process of diving deep into the world of testing (and writing) about everything from haircare to fragrance. When she’s not slathering her skin in something new, she’s going for an early morning stroll to catch a stunning sunrise (coffee in hand, of course), because life’s all about that wellness balance after all.
