CHANEL Coco Noir Eau de Parfum Spray

Probably the most disappointing Chanel fragrance I’ve tried so far… Chanel Coco Noir leaves me feeling rather disillusioned and wanting more. Especially for the price! Basically, it’s a light and inoffensive but beautifully blended combination of patchouli, citrus fruit and woods with musk. Light, airy and fresh. That’s it. A like but not a love. Where is the Coco and where is the Noir, I am thinking…? I agree with reviewers on this one in that the name Coco Noir does not match the fragrance in the bottle. Nothing dark or ‘noir’ about it at all. And here lies the disappointment as this was exactly what I was looking for in this fragrance. Alas, it’s not to be… It bears no resemblance to the original Coco. Instead, it shares more similarities to Coco Mademoiselle. Maybe they should have called this one Coco Mademoiselle Eau Fraiche or something similar? The bottle however, is beautiful and very classy, I love this the best! Sillage is somewhat light and weak, longevity is only around 3 hours, not good for an Eau de Parfum and this is even after many sprays. I would have expected more from this. Maybe it’s been through reformulation already since its release in 2012… It is an elegant perfume but lacks the opulent, rich and heady delightfulness that is Chanel Coco. But at the same time, I get that it’s not trying to be… I think I’ll relegate this one to the far reaches of my fragrance wardrobe, in the dark for a year or so, maybe more…maybe it will macerate somewhat and morph into its namesake. Here’s hoping…!

This is an exquisite perfume that makes you feel and smell delicious. I think that it is better suited for later in the day, as it's hypnotic scent is rich and warm. You only need a little of it, so a bottle lasts well.
