A new month always serves as a brand new beginning, with a new monthly budget and plenty of new beauty launches just begging to be bought.
But with brands releasing fresh drops a mile a minute, it’s no easy task figuring out what’s worth the splurge (especially in times like these, when you want to make damn sure any purchase is truly deserving of your dollars).
Luckily, we’ve rounded up the most innovative, ingenious and hell, just insanely pretty products hitting shelves this May – and we promise adding any one of them to your cart will be a decision you’ll never regret...
Manicare dermaSOOTHE Massage Globe
Keen to kick your self-care routine up a notch before winter hits? These gel-filled glass globes will no doubt make a worthy addition to your toolkit. Created to calm redness, de-puff the under-eyes and soothe the jawline, they can be used hot or cold depending on your preference. Just pop them in a bowl of either warm or icy water for 10 minutes before use and you’re good to go.
Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask
Few things grab our attention like a new drop from Olaplex, and boy oh boy, is this one a goodie. A highly concentrated hair mask made to add shine, smoothness and body to strands in a flash, it'll also get to work below the surface, using the brand’s bond-building technology to repair damage caused by everything from heat styling to overzealous brushing. If soft, glossy, swishy hair is your goal, this is your guy.
Milk Makeup Colour Chalk
Still loving multitasking makeup? This powder pigment stick is right up your alley. Designed to be used wet or dry, these silky shades (which range from caramel and chocolate to lilac and fuchsia) are formulated with mango butter and apricot oil to hydrate and help them blend seamlessly into skin. Where you choose to apply (lips, eyes, cheeks; the face is your oyster) is up to you.
Ciaté London I Am Woman Eyeshadow Palette
No month’s launches would be complete without an all-star eyeshadow palette, right? Right. And what better one to pick up than an edit all about celebrating women? This metallic and matte mix features 24 versatile shades all inspired by iconic women – a glitzy gold for Cleopatra, a rich chestnut for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and a gorgeous foiled rust colour to represent the greatest woman of all: you.
Bread Beauty Supply Hair-Wash Gentle Milky Hair
Anyone who’s ever borrowed a pal’s shampoo only to realise it’s definitely not designed for your hair type will understand: the more specific the formula, the better. Well, if you’ve ever struggled to find the perfect product for cleansing curly or textured hair, it has arrived: jam-packed with soothing aloe vera, it’s designed to softly refresh without stripping the natural oils that healthy curls need to thrive. Oh, and it smells like a bowl of Fruit Loops; a big selling point.
Sisley Paris Izia La Nuit
After a scent that’ll set you apart in a sea of spice this season? This evening eau is our seasonal perfume pick. Built around an elusive rose that blooms only once a year in Sisley co-founder Isabelle d’Ornano’s garden, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a traditional floral fragrance at first, but honestly, it’s the way that sultry leather and smooth vanilla envelop the blooms that keeps us coming back.
Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum
$232 for a serum is pretty steep, but hear us out: it’s a price we’d no doubt pay for an A-list formula concocted by celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas, who calls glowy-faced stars from Emma Roberts to Dakota Johnson clients. With an impressively high concentration of vitamin C in the mix, it may just be the very corrective brightener you’ve been searching for.
Kosas Air Brow Fluff & Hold Treatment Gel
Want to know our fave brow finish? Easy. Something fluffy, feathery and full of life. What’s not easy, however, is achieving said look, or getting it to stay put if you do. Enter this new brow gel from Kosas; it's loaded with fullness-enhancing ingredients and designed with a custom triangular spoolie to lift, fan and legitimately set each individual hair.
Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Cream
Stop everything: everyone’s favourite cult-classic body cream now has a radiance-revealing little sister. Not only does the formula feature the brand’s signature ingredient (plumping, hydrating cupuaçu butter) but it also includes fruit alpha hydroxy acids and vitamin C to get skin as gorgeously glowy as it is silky smooth.
