Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster

This is absolutely one of the best hydrating serums in the market. Dermalogica’s Skin Hydrating Booster is a rather simple product, yet it is very effective. It contains a high level of hyaluronic acid, which functions by binding water molecules to the skin to amplify the hydration level. Another main ingredient is panthenol, also known as vitamin B5, which has been proven to soothe, heal and protect the skin’s natural barrier. The booster comes in an opaque, plastic dropper bottle. The dropper bottle is very easy to control in order to dispense the desirable amount of serum every time. The serum is transparent, and has a slightly viscous texture.I like to use 3 drops on my face and neck area after cleansing and toning. It is important to use this serum while the skin is still very moist so that there is enough water for the hyaluronic acid to function properly. The serum is quickly absorbed by skin without any stickiness.  I then apply a layer of moisturiser to “seal”the moisture into my skin.  Although the serum is very lightweight, my skin feels and looks plumped and hydrated throughout the whole day. After using this serum twice a day for a few months, I noticed that my skin is smooth, supple and the fine lines are reduced. Because my skin is kept hydrated all the time, it also started to self-regulate and produces less oil,making my T-zone area less shiny. I seldom buy beauty products repeatedly, but I have now gone through more than 5 bottles of this serum because it is really effective. It is a staple in my beauty stash.

I got this with a range of Dermalogica products and used it fairly consistently till it was empty, however, I can’t say that I noticed any particular hydrating effect. I used it straight or mixed with moisturiser and just never had an ‘aha’ moment with it. I look after my skin pretty well and perhaps there isn’t that much to fix. I just didn’t feel it added anything that other Dermalogical products didn’t deliver. Judging by other reviews, your mileage may vary.

This product is amazing - a few drops goes a long way! I generally use it during the day and let it absorb into my skin before applying my moisturiser.  It would be perfect for anyone suffering from dry skin or for days where you just feel like your skin could do with some extra hydration! You can feel the effects of it upon application, it is super refreshing and makes an instant difference to your skin! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to add a little more hydration into their skin care routine.

I have been a devotee of this product for a over a decade. I swear by it! It leaves my skin truly feeling hydrated, I can definitely feel the difference to my skin when I don't use it, I feel a moistursing cream alone doesn't give the same hydration. Just apply a few drops every days before applying your moisturiser. I have recommended this in the past and I would definitely keep recommending it.
