Great serum
The Eau Thermale Avene Vitamin Activ Cg is a brightening serum that is concentrated and easy to use. It comes as a dropper and you don't need to use much to have a great coverage all over. I noticed that it did brighten my skin and had a very nice subtle scent. After using this for a few weeks I also noticed that my dark spots faded and my wrinkles and fine lines slightly decreased. I will keep using this vitamin C serum as I can see differences to my skin. My face had a healthy glow and radiance after using this the first time.
Cool, easy to apply - repurchase!
I am in love with this product. Avene is definitely u[ there as one of my favourite skin brands to use. They always deliver quality product and it doesn't cost me the earth. It’s very milky and moisturising. At the same time it didn’t feel sticky. It left a very natural dewy finish. I have very sensitive skin, and it was not irritated by it at all. It wasn't incredibly brightening, but you could definitely see a difference after a few days of use. So far, it's my favourite Vitamin C serum I've tried! I absolutely love the slight scent and it applies very smoothly and non-greasy.
Great for vitamin C newbies
This was a really good vitamin C serum and I was pleasantly surprised by how gentle it was. I had absolutely no reaction or sensitivity while using it, which is rare for me because vitamin C products can sometimes make my skin tingle or flare up. The milky, lightweight formula went on smoothly, absorbed quickly and felt nice and light on my face, almost like it disappeared instantly but still left my skin feeling hydrated.
After a few weeks of use my skin looked bright, fresh and more even toned. It gave me that healthy glow without any irritation, which is something I always hope for with vitamin C but don’t always get. I already love the Avène range and this serum felt like another solid win from them.
I think this would be the ideal product for someone trying vitamin C for the first time or for anyone with super sensitive skin. It feels gentle and soothing but still manages to give noticeable results. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 is because the formula is quite light and I sometimes prefer something a little richer and I found the eyedropper a bit cheap as it required a few gos each application, but overall it is a great option and one I would happily recommend.
Gentle on my sensitive skin
I have had mixed success with vitamin c serums, I have very pale sensitive skin and I don’t always react well. Avene is a brand I trust for sensitive skin products, so it should be no surprise that this serum was gentle on my skin.
It comes in a heavy dark glass bottle to protect the vitamin c from being degraded by light. It has a dropper applicator top. It doesn’t have a strong smell, which I was grateful for, and the consistency is thin and creamy.
I apply a full dropper to my face and neck in the morning. It absorbs very quickly and can leave my skin feeling a little tight if I wait too long before moisturising. It also has a tendency to pill if I apply moisturiser too soon, so it’s a bit of a balancing act.
When it comes to the benefits, I haven’t seen a dramatic difference but I do feel like my pigmentation and freckles are slightly less prominent. My wrinkles are sadly still thriving, but it’s only been a few weeks and there’s only so much a serum can do.
This is a really nice vitamin c serum, I feel like it’s doing its job well and over time I’ll see more benefits. The subtle and pleasant scent is a big plus for me, and I love that it’s gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin, while still being effective.
Lives up to the name
I enjoying using vitamin C serums on my face and this one didn't disappoint.
The price point isn't within my normal range for skin care products, however, using the dropper applicator, a little bit does go a long way and no mess. Using the dropper (so long as it doesn't touch anything) is also a very hygienic way of applying products to your face. It has a pleasant fragrance that isn't over powering either.
After regular use I'd say that my skin felt softer, more hydrated and over all calmer than it's normal self.
Nice serum
I’ve been trying this serum, and I find the texture quite thick compared to other Vitamin C serums I’ve used. I usually wear it underneath sunscreen, and because the serum's thicker, my sunscreen doesn’t glide on as smoothly as it normally would. The serum itself is white and feels more like a lightweight cream than a typical thin serum, but once blended in it sits nicely on the skin and feels nourishing. I actually don’t mind the thicker texture because it makes my skin feel hydrated and gives a bit of a cushioned base under makeup.
Good antioxidant serum but low percentage Vit C
As a regular user of Vitamin C serums, I was very excited to get on the trial for this product, which not only had Vitamin C in the form of ascorbyl glucoside, but also niacinamde and bakuchiol. Ascorbyl glucoside is not pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), but a derivative that is stable in water-based serums and less irritating. However, I was surprised to see that there was actually only 1.8% of ascorbyl glucoside, when I'm used to seeing 12-15% in other products. More on this later.
First off, the texture. This is a water-based milky serum that's very lightweight and easily absorbed. It does have a fragrance but thankfully it is not too strong. It's quite pleasant to use. Due to its fast-absorbing formula, it is possible to layer a second serum when using this. I can't say that I saw any visible improvement in my skin after using this for weeks, but I was already using a strong 23% pure vitamin C serum and above 5% niacinamide.
Avene's marketing claims that this serum "Enriched with 1.8% Vitamin Cg; a highly potent dermatological form of Vitamin C, with detoxifying and antioxidant properties, equivalent to 20% Pure Vitamin C". I'm not sure if Avene is only referring to the antioxidant properties of ascorbyl glucoside when making that comparison with L-ascorbic acid? The widely accepted view that pure ascorbic acid is more potent. Another source quotes that 1% of Ascorbyl Glucoside is equivalent to 0.52% L-Ascorbic acid. So 1.8% ascorbyl glucoside in this serum is actually less than 1% L-ascorbic acid, when you need 5% to hit the sweet spot for effectiveness. No wonder other brands make 12-15% ascorbyl glucoside serums!
However, it does have a decent amount of bakuchiol (1.5%), and anything between 0.5-2% of bakuchiol in a formula is ideal. The 3% niacinamide is also decent, as anything above 2% will be beneficial. I think the addition of bakuchiol does make this a decent antioxidant serum, and the addition of niacinamide boosts the brightening/skin health benefits.
So in conclusion, this isn't bad as a serum with multiple actives. But if you're after a serum that offers all the benefits that vitamin C does, I'd look elsewhere.
A great hydrator
Eau Thermale Avène Vitamin Activ CG Radiance Concentrated Serum has been a great addition to my routine, especially when my skin is dull or tired-looking. The texture strikes a lovely balance; not too thick, not too runny. It feels lightweight and spreads smoothly and absorbs quickly without leaving any tackiness. I’ve noticed the radiance boost lasts well throughout the day, giving my skin a fresher, more awake look. The fragrance is pleasant enough, though there is a slight alcohol note at first, which dissipates quickly and doesn’t linger. Overall, it feels effective, comfortable to wear and delivers a healthy glow with impressive longevity.
Radiant and Nourishing
I’ve been using the Avène Vitamin Activ Cg Serum, and it’s quickly become a staple. It brightens my skin almost instantly and makes my complexion look fresh and even. I love that it’s gentle on sensitive skin but still powerful, the Vitamin Cg really helps soften dark spots and fine lines. It layers well under my moisturizer and just gives my face a healthy, radiant glow every time I use it.
Vitamin C is an underrated skincare product, and this one just ticks all the boxes, leaving my skin looking smoother, clearer and more awake each day.
What a lovely serum which makes my skin radiant!
I’m most thankful to beautycrew for giving me the chance to trial the Eau Thermale Avene Vitamin Activ Cg Serum. I’m a big fan of Avene products for ages so this is the perfect opportunity to try a product I’m really optimistic about. I love that this is a serum and not a cream as it seems more unique. It definitely made my skin look brighter and more radiant. The texture was just right and the applicator was easy to apply the serum. It’s worth paying more attention to this price for a more advanced higher quality serum.
Great Vitamin C Serum
I have always been a huge fan of this brand, and I have also always loved vitamin C serums, so it was so great seeing them combined! This serum is wonderful and brightening. It is especially helpful on those days that you are tired and puffy; you can definitely feel a difference from before and after putting it on. I used it every day consistently, and my skin feels brighter and more hydrated. I highly recommend this serum to anyone with dark eye circles, hyperpigmentation and overall dry skin. I feel like this serum helped even out my skin tone and helped me wake up with hydrated skin even during cold winter nights. Definitely recommend!
Brightens and hydrates my skin
This product really works. This serum was recommended to me to brighten my skin. I have sensitive skin and I found this product perfect as there was no irritation whatsoever. It has a nice scent and lovely consistency and it spreads evenly and sinks straight in with ease. It’s worth every cent as my skin was visibly brighter straight away. I didn’t look as tired after using this and my skin looked and felt smoother and softer. This has definitely made a difference to my fine lines, they are much less noticeable and my skin looks more youthful and radiant. The dropper makes it easy and hygienic and a little goes a long way. This is a great anti ageing product and I would highly recommend it
Add to cart!!!
Love this product. It smells beautiful and I noticed my complexion was clearer after using it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serum that is soft on the skin and easy to add to your beauty routine.
I used this every night as part of my beauty routine, and ensure that I had ample SPF on the following day. I loved the application too, and the consistency of the product.
Great product
have been using this product together with the Eau Thermale Avène Vitamin Activ CG Cream for the past few weeks and I have really noticed the difference. The serum is super lightweight and spreads so easily and effectively. With a lovely fresh scent similar to the cream itself. I love the idea of a serum for that extra bit of potency. My skin is visibly brighter and more "alive" and really like the way it makes my skin feel nourished and hydrated. The combo of the cream x serum is a dynamite duo which has worked wonders and I have already had people say how good my skin looks.
I can definitely notice that the fine lines around my eyes seem to have reduced somewhat and my skin is feeling great. I do tend to have quite sensitive skin and I have to be careful about the products I use, but I have had no issues at all with this one despite the active ingredients. I have really been impressed by the cream x serum combo and look forward to continuing to use both of these quality and luxurious products. .
Great for dry skin!
I've been using this serum consistently at night, I like to mix it in with moisturiser for a more even coverage. My skin feels much, smoother, plumper, less textured and nourishes after using only a few times! I suffer from dry skin and find that i must use alot of heavy thick products. However, this serum is so light and provides plenty of hydration! I also really enjoyed the scent, not too powerful. Compared to other serums I've tried this one is the best, I would definitely recommend this product.
Bright Skin!
This Vitamin C Serum is a must-have!!! I have some sun damage on my neck soo I have been looking for a new vitamin c to incorporate into my routine and this one is perfect. My skin feels brighter and clearer, with a more even skin tone. My skin also feels so much softer which is a bonus! It's a little bit tacky but I find that it works quite well underneath makeup. I've been using this one in the morning and highly recommend to friends and family. If you're looking to start adding active into your skincare routine, look no further.
Good vitamin C product
The Eau Thermale Avène Vitamin Activ CG Serum has quickly become a staple in my skincare routine. Designed to brighten and revitalize sensitive skin, this serum boasts an impressive array of benefits according to numerous user experiences.
One standout feature is its lightweight texture, which effortlessly glides onto the skin, leaving behind a radiant and even complexion. The serum does reduce
redness and dark spots so it could be a go-to for those seeking a more even skin tone. You can feel slight tackiness after application, but it is fine if you wait a bit. Its hydrating properties make it suitable for various skin types, including oily and combination skin, without causing breakouts or excessive oiliness.
The serum's potent blend of vitamins and antioxidants, including Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Pro-vitamin CG, works synergistically to brighten, hydrate, and protect the skin against environmental aggressors. I feel like my skin was overall more radiant and clearer complexion over time. Additionally, the serum's fragrance, while pleasant for most, may be a concern for those sensitive to scents.
In conclusion, the Eau Thermale Avène Vitamin Activ CG Serum is a worthy investment for anyone looking to achieve a healthier, more radiant complexion. Its hydrating and brightening effects, coupled with its gentle formulation, make it a standout product in the realm of skincare.
A new staple in my routine
This product was an awesome way to introduce Vitamin C to my routine. When using most products I tend to feel like my skin feels heavy and greasy when using too many products with too many active ingredients however this serum has fit right into my current routine. I’ve noticed a big difference in texture, brightness and the reduction of fine lines after introducing this to my skincare regimen. I’d definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a new serum that targets skin’s brightness and texture.
Glowy and pro skincare serum
I like the formula, gives me cosmeceutical and professional grade skincare vibe. Vitamin c has never worked well on my skin, and I have dull acne prone skin so I definitely need it. The serum was quite sticky, but I did like it in conjunction with the cream. It gives off a radiant bright look to the skin, a glowy under the sun look, and I can only imagine that the ingredients are good and nourishing for the skin as well. Unfortunately I didn’t see much reduction in my acne scars and fine lines but that may be because I don’t have a before and after photo to refer to. Overall, I’ll keep using the product, because I haven’t had an adverse reaction from it so far.
Good and smells great
The serums consistency is thick and milky, and smells nice which is great however it didn’t fully absorb into my skin, not sure if it’s the formula or really suited for oily skin which I have. This does have some sort of lightening effect to some extent, I tested it on one spot and it improved slightly so I’ll probably continue to try the product. Even though it was fragranced slightly it didn’t affect my sensitive skin too much. I’d recommend this serum but just be patient and give it time cause it is stronger than other Avene spot serums.
