Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat

I always use my Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat before I apply a nail polish colour to my nails because it fills the ridges and gives me that professional salon smooth finish to my nails. If you use this as a base coat it also prevents your nails polish from staining your nails and discolouring. I can not paint my nails without putting this on first. It is quite affordable and I would definitely recommend this if you have ridges on your fingernails or toenails. It saves you from having to buff the nails first.

I adore this Essie ridge filling base coat as it restores ageing nails, it really works and does as it claims. This product restores colour to my nails as they age and beautifully fills ridges to restore the appearance of my nails making them smoother which makes a great canvas for polish. This makes a lovely base coat for polish and makes polish last longer, it has a lovely sheen so I often just wear this on its own. This product actually strengthens my nails which is a bonus, my top tip would be to use this under polish then apply an Essie top coat to give nails a salon looking professional finish. I love that this is user friendly, the high quality brush is wide enough to deliver just the right amount of product in one  sweep meaning no streaks. It dries really quickly which is a plus if you're waiting to apply a polish and at under $18.00 it is good value for providing such smooth nails for a professional finish without a salon price. I adore Essie products, such high quality products for nails, I love this base coat and highly recommend it.

Essie's Ridge Filling Base Coat is one of my all time favourite base coats. It helps polishes go on smoother, I am certain it helps the polish last longer and the base coat looks lovely on its own as well.  I purchased this base coat on recommendation from a friend - I've always had terrible results with lighter coloured polishes (light pinks, nudes etc.) as they end up streaky and inconsistent in terms of the depth of colour; so my friend suggested I give Essie's Ridge Filling Base Coat a try. I'd never tried a ridge filling base coat before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I figured I was in the market for a new base coat, so why not give this one a go?! I'm so glad that I did - not only are my light-coloured polish woes a thing of the past, my nails are healthier and stronger for using this polish.  In terms of quality and consistency, if you are familiar with Essie's other treatment and base/top coat products you will be familiar with the high quality packaging and user-friendly brush design and decent volume of product (generally 13.5ml). I'm always happy to buy Essie products as they have a luxury feel and look, with specialist product quality at a drugstore price point. My only complaint would be the chemical smell of this polish, but - unlike other polishes I've used - I find the smell doesn't linger after the polish is dry.   Don't be put off by the seemingly apricot colour of the nail polish - it provides a lovely semi-matte sheen to your nails for wearing it alone, but doesn't impact the colour coat if you are using it as a base.  When I use this polish as a base coat, I apply one coat of it, two coats of colour and then a top coat (Essie's Good to Go) - I find you can mix and match your brands without the effectiveness of the base coat being impacted. When using this polish stand-alone, I do one coat of it and I'm done. Another great plus is that this polish dries quite quickly, so you can get on with your day (or manicure) and not have to wait around for it to dry. I purchased Essie's Ridge Filling Base Coat as a result of a recommendation from a friend, and now I happily recommend it to anyone looking for a quality base coat that helps colour last longer and look more even, and helps improve the condition of your nails.
