Oh God, sometimes it is better not to read a description of a perfume. Who would want to smell of damp coolness of Italian churches apart from some hardcore perfume lover? Well, the devil is not as black as it is painted in this case. Definitely. Armani Cuir Amethyste smells of some very expensive leather jacket that has been infused with some extremely expensive powdery , yet smoky perfume that was worn by some posh lady. Cuir Amethyste is pure raw leather, but with some character. It opens with a sharp note of a bergamont, giving us an impression of coolness. Then it is all leather with the notes of woods, rose and patchouli. That leather jacket I mentioned before might have been somewhere near the field of violets and it makes Cuir Amethyste even more refined, even more polished. The fragrance is very long lasting, but it is not heavy at all. It makes me feel very elegant and professional when I wear it. Makes an incredible impression on people, both male and female. I usually do not pay that much attention to the bottle but this one is a masterpiece. The black bottle is perfect, so simple but so elegant, it lays beautifully in the hand too. The amazing purple ( amethyste!) top complements the bottle in an extraordinary way. This perfume will be loved and appreciated by those who enjoy leathery chypre perfumes. Although the description might sound a bit too scary, too niche, Cuir Amethyste is very wearable, even for every day. Just imagine a more sophisticated, more dry and more refined version of Bottega Veneta Eau de parfum and voila, you have got Cuir Amethyste. ( The nose behind both of those fragrances is the same too!). If you want to dry something different, Cuir Amethyste is a way to go. A bit pricey though, that is way I must steal one star. Otherwise, perfect.
