Maybelline New York Build-A-Brow

This brow product is nice and easy to use, and I have found it handy to throw in my gym bag for an all-in-one everyday brow product. For me, the product works best to deliver a more natural looking brow, and does have decent longevity in terms of performance. I wasn't super impressed with the individual components, I do think that there are better options out there at a similar price point, but the handiness of having both the pencil and gel in one product does have it's benefits. I probably wouldn't repurchase at full price, but if I could pick it up with a considerable discount I would consider it.

I was excited to trial this product. I was lucky to get the exact shade match I needed which was the soft brown and the colour was spot on. I have sparse eyebrows so this type of product is ideal for me. I'm a child of the 90s with the thin eyebrows trend at the time which is now giving me grief when a fuller eyebrow is the way to go. Anyway, the first time I used it, I seemed to get a bit of a result, but then it just didn't seem to want to work. I couldn't get the application of the 'strokes' needed to build how I wanted it to look which resulted in a lopsided appearance. When I wiped it off and tried to apply again, the pen didn't want to dispense any product. It may be my (lack of) technique, but I wouldn't purchase this product in the future.

I was excited to get this product to try out as I haven’t used a lot of make up lately but usually use some kind of brow products. This is different to any brow products I have used before. The pen has a very fine and very flexible tip and on the other end is a gel to finish off the brow. When I first opened the product and drew with the pen I wasn’t sure that it was working. I have very dark brows so I couldn’t see that any product was coming out. Eventually I started seeing more of the product and colour. You really have to get the movement right and also draw the brows in slowly over time. It does give a more natural look than a pencil or a pomade does. If you want that very natural look then this is a great product but if you want a bold brow, it may take a while for you to fill in the brows to create a bolder look. The gel brush is quite small (smaller than a mascara brush) and I quite like it. It helps finish and set your brows without feeling crunchy. Although if you do apply too much it can start feeling crunchy. Overall I quite like this but you it does take time to fill in the brows

I'm here to say I'm obsessed with this product! Ive gotten my my eyebrows done professionally a few times, but I stopped due to the price. I have found that this product gives me exactly what I need and I love that it takes me no time at all to do my brows now! The application of this pen is so easy, it allows you to slowly build your brow to achieve a natural look. Once it dries and you comb through the gel, those brows are going nowhere! No smudging or wear! And 2 minutes, compared to the 10+ it used to take me.. I'd 100% recommend to everyone.

As a beauty aficionado, I have used so many brow products in my lifetime, but have always found liquid tools to look unrealistic and blocky. This product did not take long to dramatically change my thoughts! It is super natural looking – it does not act like a marker, whereby the colour transfers directly to the brow, but rather draws on quite light. It is flawlessly buildable, allowing you to have control over how dark/thick you want your brows to be. The gel on the other tip works well to seal it all in, allowing it to stay in place all day, which it had proven to do effectively. It is not very efficient at keeping the brows in place (I did have to go over them with a clear brow gel), but it is not intended for laminating purposes, so this was understandable. I also loved the way the gel did not appear white, or flake/harden throughout the day. Overall, this tool is amazing! I love the versatility of the product and the way it allows you to shape and build up the intensity of your brow to your liking. Would definitely recommend for beginners and pros, alike.

This is the first time I'm using a liquid/gel like brow builder. Prior to this I was using only pencils - Shu Uemura and Anastasia were my favourites. As a pencil girl, this is actually quite daunting to think about using liquid, mainly with pencil it was an easier way to 'build' the colour but also if I screwed up, it was an easy hand smear away and start over. I was surprised at how easy it was to use the gel tip - I guess I thought it would be more rigid like my Stila liquid eyeliner.. but it was quite easy to mould. The colour can build as well, but I found the initial colour enough for my eyebrows as I didn't want the fake 'tattoo' look that a lot of people had. Overall, this was a good experience and something I would keep using - but if I'm honest, I still feel pencils give me the most natural brow look possible

I was really looking forward to trying this Maybelline New York Build-A-Brow, as I have not used a product like it before and I was hoping that it would give my brows the fuller appearance that I was looking for. I was after a natural-looking colour that would be easy to apply and long-lasting, and I was very pleased with the results I received when using this product. Obtaining a fuller, fanned look for my brows was quick and easy using the pen applicator, and the colour, 262 black brown, was a perfect match for my natural brow colour. The things that I particularly loved - that the product lasts for up to 24 hours with the use of the sealing gel, that it is waterproof and also sweat-resistant and smudge-resistant. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a fuller brow look, which is easy to achieve, and I would also recommend this eye makeup to anyone who prefers a vegan formula, as there are no animal-derived ingredients.

I am all for natural brows so this Build-A-Brow was speaking to me. I don't like to spend too much time on my brows - I just quickly run a brow mascara through to add some fullness and a touch more colour. Mine are quite fair so I found the shade Blonde to match quite well and it gives just enough colour whilst still looking natural. The fine tip applicator allows for precision in creating that fuller brow effect and it stays put all day long. I like that on the other end is a spoolie for combing through your brows - it makes it so much more convenient. It's a nice product, but I don't think it's worth the price tag.

I am relatively new to brow products and this was a great introductory and an intuitively easy product to use. The tip of the pen end is very thin, soft against skin, and great for filling in thinning areas of my brows. Depending on the pressure applied, you can also adjust the thickness of the brushstrokes. I was provided with the shade Black Brown which matched my brows perfectly. The gel end is my favourite – the brush was applied accurately and the clear gel formula dries down quickly but does not leave my brows feeling too stiff. I like that the gel tip is see-through so I can easily see once the gel runs out. Overall, this product helped enhance my natural brows and did not leave it looking artificially touched up.

After my skincare and following the instructions I shake the brow pen then using light strokes from one end of each brow to the other I lightly fill in my brows. Once allowed to dry (approx 15 seconds) I comb through the sealing gel into shape. The ash brown I received blends in great for my brows it fills in any gaps and more sparse areas I have on my brows. The fine brush tip allows you to easily control how much you apply at a time only a little comes up which allows you to lightly fill them in or build them in more depth if you desire. My brows look like they have been professionally done, it doesn’t look like typical eyebrow makeup it looks much much better. Go out and get yourself a build-a-brow it’s totally worth it.

I recently tried the Maybelline New York Build-A-Brow product and have mixed feelings about it. The product does work well if you have the time to put into it. The brush allows for precise application, and the formula is buildable so you can achieve your desired level of thickness and definition. I was also pleased with the color match - it blended seamlessly with my natural brows and looked quite natural. However, I do not think this product is worth the price. While it does a decent job, I have used other brow products that are equally as good (if not better) at a lower cost. Overall, if you have the time and patience to use this product, it can give you great results. But if you're looking for a more affordable option, you may want to explore other brow products on the market.

If I’m having a “no” makeup day, I apply two things to my face, an eyebrow product to define and shape my brows and a lipstick for a bit of colour and moisture. When I tried Maybelline’s Build-A-Brow, I had high hopes this would be a great eyebrow defining product. Unfortunately not. The application brush was flimsy and you had to repeat, repeat, repeat and press the whole tip to your skin rather than use it like a drawing pencil to actually start noticing any colour being applied. Because of this it was a case of extremes. Nothing noticeable to a solid tattoo gone wrong look. Other products I’ve used give you much more control and allow you to define your brows and build up a look. It did fill in sparse areas but the texture made it look like a stamp on eyebrow and not natural or defining at all. Potentially, the colour I tried may have made the appearance more noticeably wrong. I trialled Medium Brown which was much too light and didn’t match my darker eyebrow natural colour. Whilst the bad did outweigh the good there was some wins. If this product does suit you, know that it didn’t fade or smudge all day and the clear gel application was the best part and comparative to other products on the market. The clear gel did hold my brows in place and the application was easy. The contained clear gel doesn’t stay clear for long though as when you use the brush on your brows that you’ve drawn on, it ends up picking up colour on this brush and going back into the clear gel. After 1 week the gel tube started to look a little murky and ick. Overall I would not recommend this product to anyone and I would not repurchase. There are much better brow products on the market that are easier to apply and are more defining and natural for the look I want.

257 Medium Brown I had my brows feather stroked years ago and eventually would like them done again as they have almost fully faded away. I and so pleased with this build a brow as it has given me the same look. Using the coloured end first I take the brush tipped end and gently follow along my brows filling in the gaps using upward strokes. Once I’ve done this from start of brown to end i use the sealing gel brush to seal the colour and shape of my brows. My brows look naturally filled and the medium brown blends in fantastically with my brow colour. It lasts all day and also washes off easily you can’t tell it’s a makeup product it looks really real. I highly recommend build a brown and will continue using it.

This is such a great product and it's from the drugstore so it's more of an affordable price. That being said, a lot of stores have 50% off sales so I would definitely wait until it goes on sale for $14 - $15. It creates really thin and fine brow like strokes that look very similar to brow hairs and it lasts all day. Up close, you can tell the difference but not from a metre or so away. I have also tried the micro brow pencil in Maybelline, also in the same colour, medium brown, and I did notice that the Build-A-Brow tends to go a bit warmer than the pencil which stays neutral so that is something to note.

I really enjoy using this new brow product! I used the shade dark brown, which is a warm brown tone, and suited me very well. The brush is similar to a liquid eyeliner felt pen brush. You have the ability to use lightly for natural filling, or heavier to really colour in your brows, depending on how you like your brows to look. I found that light brush strokes created hair like lines that looked the best for me. The product is very buildable. The brow pen is also very forgiving and you don’t need to be a brow wiz to master this product. The colour doesn't smudge throughout the day and is very long lasting, but comes off easy with cleanser. The other end of the pen is a small spoolie brush in a clear brow gel. The gel stays clear and does not give off a white cast like many clear gels do. The brow gel did hold my brows in place nicely at first, however I found that it did not hold my brows as well as other products do, especially if I am wanting an all day look. Overall I would definitely recommend this product for its affordability, as this brand is often on sale somewhere, and ease of use.

looks very natural when used correctly.Lasts a very long time in my opinion.When shaping and filling in my eyebrow it was very easy because the tip makes it look natural and each stroke blends in.I got the darkest shade because my eyebrows are pretty dark it blended pretty well the only thing i would change about it is that the colour could be kinda ashy sometimes.I also like thgat the product has a two in one on each side so its noit to much effort or taking up to much space in your makeup bag.overall i probably would buy it again if I was looking for one.

This is my new favourite brow product! I love the pen design making it easy to use and you don’t have to go searching through your makeup bag for multiple products and brushes etc. The build-a-brow pen is a 2 in 1! One end is the pen and the other end is the setting gel, it’s fool proof and so easy to use. The product itself is nothing I’ve ever used before, having tried pomades, gels and pencils over the years, the build-a-brow pen is an ink-like consistency which means it’s super easy to apply and gives you realistic hair strokes. It’s the product I didn’t know I needed! It applies so seamlessly onto the skin and has a buildable coverage for those sparse areas. The setting gel makes sure that they stay in place all day, even after working out. The range of colours accommodates to everybody, I use the soft brown colour having naturally Mousey brown hair it suits perfectly. The build-a-brow pen is very affordable which is one of the reasons I would definitely purchase this product again and recommend it to my family and friends. I would liken the build-a-brow pen to having your brows tinted in salon except now I can get multiple applications for a quarter of the salon price.

I was surprised how much I loved this product I thought it would be hard to use as I have never used a brow product with a pen like tip. To my surprise it was so easy to use, the more pressure applied the darker it becomes which is great for filling in rather then light hair like strokes and my eyebrows are black so I got the shade black brown it was perfect. My eyebrows stayed in place all night, the gel was great it didn’t feel heavy and thick at all. I would definitely purchase this again highly recommended
