Helps Makeup Last, But Not Perfect

I’ve been using the Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer and I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive side, it really does make my makeup stay on longer, which is great for busy days when I don’t want to keep touching up. The texture feels lightweight and gives a nice base for foundation. However, I’ve found that you do need a decent amount of product to get that proper “grip,” which means it might run out quicker than expected. I also don’t really enjoy the smell, as it’s a bit off-putting for me. Overall, it works well for holding makeup in place, but it’s not my favorite primer experience.

MY FIRST MAYBELLINE NEW YORK GRIPPY SERUM PREMIER

My first Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer I use for first time. I use my first Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer for 7 days. Before I use my first Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer, I always wear my day cream and eye cream at morning and my night cream and eye cream everyday. My face skin cleaned everything slowly. My face skin looks more shiney. My face skin looks more glowing and brightening. My face skin looks more healthy and free dirty. My face skin looks more firmer. My face skin looks more softener. My face skin looks more smoothly.

not for all

i found this product to be a complete waste of time and am just pleased that it was review crew sample Extremely tacky rendering it nigh on impossible to obtain a smooth finish to my foundation. Maybe i didn't wait long enough for it to "dry" but it was still tacky after 15 minutes so I applied my foundation (and who has a spare 15 minutes in their morning routine to wait for anything.) As the finisjh was not up to my, albeit pretty low, standards, I removed my make-up and started again without the primer Sorry - wouldn't recommend this one

Makeup sits nicely but doesn’t last

I have mixed feelings about this primer… the one thing that it did do really well was make my makeup sit nicely. I tried it out with both a lighter coverage skin tint base and a fuller coverage foundation, and both times using the primer did noticeably affect the smoothness of the makeup and evenness of the coverage. It’s also really satisfying to apply - when you tap it into your skin you can feel the primer turn from a smooth consistency into the grippiness it promises. However, in my experience the primer did not have any effect on how long my makeup lasted. I didn’t notice any difference between how my makeup lasted using this primer and no primer at all. All in all I would likely not repurchase the product because a key requirement of a primer in my opinion is that it makes makeup last longer.

Good worth a try

This product was difficult to get out of the bottle. It did not want to be sucked into the pipette. Not sure if I just got a dude bottle or whether the bottle may need to be changed. I found the product went on a little sticky but wasn't unpleasant feeling on the skin. It did seem to make my makeup stay put. I'm not sure if it was moisturising at all but was not drying at all. It is not over priced and seems to do what it's is advertised to do. I would recommend this product with a change of bottle..

maybelline New York Grippy Serum

maybelline New York Grippy Serum was a weird new thing to try, it gave me a lot of excitement trying to test out this product. The serum was simple yet quite easy to direct how to use it but the only problem I had with the serum was that you would have to use quite or a lot more than intended to use to spread out the grippy serum. maybelline New York Grippy Serum had given me a very sticky feeling from the start of my use of the products but then after 5 or so minutes it tends sticks onto your face well even when it dry. the maybelline New York Grippy Serum dries it doesn’t feel as sticky, which helps whatever makeup you put on afterwards to dry, grip & hold onto the makeup you or I would tend to put on whenever we are getting ready to go out

Perfection

A fantastic budget friendly primer that does exactly what it says it will. I have been using the elf primer for a long time however I think this is now my go to grippy primer of choice. The formula is maybe a touch too thick for the application dropper but you persevere. I felt hydrated without feeling like I was wearing a heavy, silicon based primer. I tried this primer with a bunch of different foundations and found it worked perfectly with all of them. A super easy product to use, and keeps you looking fresh and put together all day long.

Hydrating but sticky

The packaging is sleek and user-friendly. The dropper bottle design gives it a more high-end, skincare-inspired feel, and it dispenses the right amount of product. The texture of the serum primer is quite interesting, it’s thicker than most serums but not quite a gel. When applied to the skin, it spreads easily and initially feels hydrating. However Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer felt too sticky for my liking and took longer than expected to dry down. While it did help my makeup stay in place once set, the tacky texture and wait time made it less convenient for everyday use. It might work better for those with dry skin or who don’t mind a longer prep time, but personally, it wasn’t the most comfortable or efficient primer I’ve tried.

Hydration but make it Grippy

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer claims to be ultra blendable with grip technology after only 20 seconds. Formulated with niacinamide it claims to deliver hydration and a plumper look with grip that lasts up to 24 hours. This product is a thin serum like formula and I can attest to the tacky feeling once this easy to blend product is applied on your face, theres no pilling when applied after my skincare, which is an absolute added bonus. I noticed my makeup lasted longer whilst using this primer and my skin also felt softer and definitely plumper. An easy to use long lasting product, where a little goes a long way. High end quality. Definitely a bang for your buck.

Worked really well

I really enjoyed using this primer. It has a fresh, serum-like texture that feels super hydrating and instantly plumps the skin. While it was slightly sticky at first, it still glided on smoothly, and that tackiness actually helped my makeup grip and stay in place all day. I only needed a few drops, so a little goes a long way. I also really enjoyed the packaging and dropper style application. My skin looked brighter and more refreshed, thanks to the niacinamide, and I felt fresh-faced from morning to night.Would absolutely recommend this one to others.

A new kind of primer

This primer was different to any other primers I have used. The serum texture is more like skincare than makeup primer but once you use it you realise it just works and is a perfect base for makeup especially for combination or oily skin. I loved this primer. Once you apply it and it dries down it does feel a bit tacky but once you have makeup on that feeling is gone. It made my makeup go on easily and sit beautifully. Much less streaking, and blends nicely. When I checked my makeup during the day it looked the same as the morning and I was constantly pleased by how smooth my skin looked. Having the niacinamide gives some skincare benefits which is great and I am sure has contributed to the decreased redness and certainly helps pores look more refined. I will keep using this serum primer as it works so well for me. I have combination skin and can get oily t-zone but this primer stops that. Love it.

Lightweight but effective!

I’ve been using the Grippy Serum primer for a few weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed. The texture feels like a lightweight serum at first, but after a few seconds it sets perfectly to grip my foundation without feeling heavy or sticky. My makeup lasts flawlessly throughout the day – even after long hours, there’s no fading or sliding. I also love that it contains 2% niacinamide, which leaves my skin feeling hydrated and plumped. No greasy finish, no white cast, and absolutely no pilling. It’s become an essential step in my routine, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a primer that truly delivers on both skincare benefits and all-day makeup hold.

Really lives up to its name

I have been looking for a product like this. I work SUPER long hours and don't get time to reapply my makeup usually. By the time I'm halfway through my shift my foundation and eye makeup look patchy and have settled into all my lines and pores. I've used primers with minimal effect and setting sprays make my face feel like concrete. This primer has been a godsend. It REALLY grips your makeup and makes it STAY PUT like you've just applied it - even 12 hours later. I have been using it most days for the past few weeks and I LOVE coming home and seeing myself in the mirror looking the same as when I left that morning - foundation perfect, blush and eyeshadow like I just did them. It's easy to wear - is clear consistency and feels light when you apply it. Doesn't feel tacky. A great find and a new staple in my makeup bag.

Great primer and amazing results

I was sent this product as part of the Beauty crew trial and was a little unsure of what to expect as this was unlike any primer I have used before. In the past I have used the Laura Mercier primer or the NARS light reflecting primer so I was interested in how this works. I have to say I was sceptical of this very tacky sticky like texture and in all honesty it did take me a few days to work out how much I actually needed and I found out a little goes a long way. I am still not sure if I like the consistency of this product as I’m more used to a cream like product so it might take me longer to get used to it. I did like how it felt like a serum going onto the skin but then developed into that sticky grippy feeling on the skin. The scent was non existent which I like and I was pleasantly surprised that the primer didn’t cause my foundation to pill which is a bonus. I have to say it definitely lived up to a long lasting primer and it did help my makeup last all day and stay fresh. I loved that it had all the benefits of a serum like the aloe and 2% of niacinamide which offers that extra benefit of hydration that I feel I need for my skin . Once I finish the bottle I’m sure my mind will be made up if I will repurchase as I find each time I use this primer I am getting so much better at applying it successfully in my skincare and makeup routine. I love that it’s an affordable alternative to the primers I have previously used so I will definitely keep the Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer in mind

Perfect!

I was offered the chance to trial Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer and was pleasantly surprised. It really does what it says and is colourless, scentless and is easily applied. Great for people with sensitivities, it is not irritating, is inexpensive and readily available in most stores that stock cosmetics. Apply on a clean face, my placing a few drops and it will become 'grippy'. My make-up went on easier and stayed on all day. My face looked clearer and brighter. Overall, I enjoy using this product and would definitely purchase again in the future.

New holy grail primer

The product comes in a sleek, heavy glass bottle with a dropper, which immediately sets it apart from most drugstore primers that typically reside in plastic tubes or pumps. As you dispense the serum, it has a lightweight, slightly watery consistency that feels incredibly silky as you smooth it over your skin. It absorbs quickly, leaving behind not a slick, slippery film, but a distinctly… tacky feeling. If you have combination or dry skin and struggle with your makeup fading around the nose, chin, or forehead, this primer might be your holy grail. My makeup has never lasted longer. On a typical workday, I apply my makeup at 7am. Pre-this-primer, I’d see significant fading and shine on my T-zone by 3pm. With the Grippy Serum Primer, my foundation is still visibly intact at 7pm. The Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer is a rare product that not only lives up to the hype but also genuinely innovates in the crowded primer market.

A solid everyday primer

I recently tried the Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer and I’m loving it! At first the texture feels a little sticky, but it quickly settles into a silky smooth finish that makes your skin feel great. You only need a small amount, so the bottle lasts ages. My foundation applies really nicely over it and stays put all day without sliding around. It has a neutral fragrance, which I like since it doesn’t compete with any other products. Such a solid everyday primer! A fantastic new addition to my everyday routine.

Excellent quality

The Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer is a fantastic idea and very easy to use. I found it really helped keep my foundation last all day. Only a little serum is needed for the whole face as it spreads easily and feels cooling. Foundation is often the first to be wiped off my nose throughout the day and this really helped with staying power. It is lovely and light and a very hydrating serum. I would recommend it for anyone who wears foundation or powder. I received this Serum for my honest review.

Affordable, effective, and great for everyday wear

Right off the bat, the texture is really unique. It goes on like a lightweight serum—cooling, hydrating, and easy to spread. But after about 20 seconds, you can actually feel it transform into a slightly tacky finish that grips your makeup in place. It's not overly sticky, just enough to create that perfect base for foundation or even a tinted moisturizer. I noticed that my skin looked smoother and more even after using it consistently. It gives a subtle plumped effect, and keeps my face feeling moisturized throughout the day without being greasy.

Great

This Maybelline New York Grippy Serum Primer pleasantly surprised me. I usually hate putting on serums and moisturise before my make up. It usually affects how the make up sits on my skin but with this one it sat perfectly. It didn't become caked on or move through the day. It definitely gripped on my skin and make up. It was also easy to remove at the end of the day. I will definitely consider purchasing this Serum Primer again even over other named brands including more expensive brand names.
