Rimmel London ScandalEyes Retro Glam Waterproof Mascara

The black tube is quite sleek with blue circles and white writing on it. It's chunky and easy to hold both the handle while applying and the tube with the other hand. When closing the tube the lid has a little extra twist and you feel it "lock" into place which leaves me secure in the knowledge the product won't dry out and get wasted At first I was intimidated and a little overwhelmed at the size of the large hourglass shaped brush. I'd never used a brush that was quite as chunky or as large in size. My concerns were completely unfounded although you do have to be a little careful with application or it can go everywhere.. I did find that the first time I use it I need to "unload" the brush slightly onto a tissue. If I don't I have found that the mascara is too thick on my lashes, looks clumpy and takes quite some time to dry. If applied too thick when it does dry it can be a little flaky and heavy feeling on your lashes. After a little practice and a few goes I figure out the the best way to use it is to hold the brush horizontally and wiggle at the base slowly working your way to the tip. after taking any extra excess off the tip of the brush you can use it to fill any missed spots or to go over specific lashes. It coats my lashes beautifully and gives a nice little curled flick to my outer lashes. I have shortish lashes and I felt that they looked beautifully lengthened and volumised without sticking together or clumping. I knew if I had left too much product on the brush as they would stick togehter and look clumped and horrible. When using a eyelash curler the mascara holds the curl after being applied and doesn't make my lashes too heavy and droopy. I really like this mascara and have purchased more than once. The price tag is very reasonable and this product compares quite well with some of the more expensive brands. I don't always  use the waterproof version but the normal one performs well enough if you're just looking for a standard mascara. It's easy to remove with a eye makeup remover without having to rub my eyes raw. It does take a bit of effort to get it all with the non waterproof version requiring less so. When first using, gently wipe with a tissue to remove excess product build up. This helps avoid unnecessary clumping from applying too much product   I'd recommend it to those who like a wide eyed/ cat eye look from mascara to compliment a winged liner or alone fro a little more than just standard lashes

I purchased this mascara hoping it would add a lot of volume to my lashes and give me a very 'glam' look as I enjoy dramatic lashes but sadly this product does that. It is perfect if you are looking for a mascara that makes your lashes look fuller but still very natural. I also had a lot of issues with clumping and drying out on the brush often. The product also became quite flakey and irritating on my eyes after a few hours of wear. Definitely not one I would purchase again.

Not a great mascara for me. This Rimmel Retro Glam eyes mascara in the waterproof formula is just ok. Essentially it does the job but the wand is massive. This causes for increased risk of smudging and difficulty getting to those small inner lashes.  I expect to get at least 8 hrs wear from a mascara with no flaking or smudging. This did not perform to this level with flaking occurring at the 5 hrs mark. I just didn't love this and i think there are way better mascaras on the market.

Can't say anything too bad about this product. I've been using it for years and I've never experienced any smudging. It does add volume to your lashes, but make sure to wipe off  A LOT of the excess first before you apply to avoid clumping.
