Tom Ford Café Rose

Rose centerpiece, surrounded with spices, incense and amber/woods base. This rose is not thick and dark as in Noir de Noir, but lighter, brighter rose. Not sticky, but dryer scent. I feel rose from start to the end. Just spiced roses warmed with amber. Not too complex as some of Private Blends can be. Not punchy either. More smooth and light to my senses. Playful yet serious. Elegant. Subdued. Wears well on skin. Not as potent in projection as some other fragrances I have from the line, but sometimes we want to be not so loud. Persists on clothing until I wash my top.

This smells very similar to Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud.  I'm not sure which came first, but I purchased the Jo Malone body cream awhile ago and find it layers perfectly with Cafe Rose.  Funnily enough, purple is the colour of the label on the bottle and purple is the colour I think of when I smell this perfume.  It smells very rich and sweet, like rose scented pipe tobacco, if that's even a thing.  A bit heavy for summer, but beautiful on an Autumn or winter's night.

Tom Ford's 'Café Rose' is a magnificent rose perfume, with chocolatey-coffee aromas, a tobaccoish-insence depth and a vibrating strength. On the first spritz the scent is heady and powerful, which can feel overwhelming, however after about 5 minutes it softens into a smooth, feminine and invigorating scent which is both seductive and calming at the same time. It is an absolute must-have!
