If you tuned in to the season launch of The Bachelor this week, you’ll know all too well why red hair has become a hot topic.
In an incident we’re still trying to wrap our heads around, contestant Zoe-Clare delivered a passionate speech (likely fuelled by too many cocktails and being kept up ‘til the wee hours) about the rarer-than-most hair colour – “we are more striking than any other human that walks this earth”.
However, not all redheads are as fiercely loyal as Zoe-Clare who claimed “I will be a ranga until the day I die". Some of our most beloved celebrities have dabbled in auburn tresses before returning to blonde, and vice versa.
Here are the celebrities that have done their dash as both a blonde and a (proud, of course) ‘ranga’.
Plot twist. Even the proudest of redheads have been known to give in to the temptation of a colour change. Yep, The Bachelor’s Zoe-Clare McDonald will never (aside from May 2018), ever (see picture above), ever, (blonde photos plastered over Instagram) ever change her hair colour.
Yes, we knew and loved her as the brunette Bella Swan in our beloved Twilight series, but Stewart is in fact a natural blonde. Her latest stint of embracing her God-given colour was this blonde/brunette salt and pepper blend, but she's since moved onto a stunning strawberry blonde shade that we can't quite get over.
Despite her status as a bona fide blonde, Benson doesn't mind dabbling in other shade arenas at all. Her latest look? This rich red, which she debuted on Instagram alongside the fitting caption "Always wanted to be a redhead." Evidently, her wish was her colourist's command.
While her roles in La La Land and Superbad would have you convinced those crystal blue eyes and porcelain skin could only belong to a pure born redhead – Emma Stone is in fact, naturally blonde.
For any GOT fans, Sophie Turner rocking anything but her iconic auburn tresses feels wrong. For those without the attachment to Sansa Stark, we can’t get enough of Sophie’s creamy blonde.
Even though Julia describes her natural hair colour as “kind of a dark blonde”, seeing pictures of her stint as a redhead gives us a major hit of Notting Hill and Pretty Woman nostalgia.
Arguably the most iconic celebrity redhead of them all is none other than Australia’s Nicole Kidman. And while we thought she’d never jump ship, she is currently embracing life as a blonde and we are totally in support.
It’s rumoured that when Blake made the move from blonde to red, she was in the chair with her hairdresser until 2am. A change that didn’t stick around for long, Blake went back to the Serena Van Der Woodsen ‘New York’ blonde as soon as the role she went red for wrapped.
While she may be blonde in her iconic mugshot, it’s Lohan’s natural ginger hair from The Parent Trap and Mean Girls that will always hold the biggest piece of our heart.
It was through Emily Blunt’s ice cold Devil Wears Prada character that we first saw the actress with mahogany locks. Thankfully outside of this role, Emily’s hair (and personality) are far warmer. It’s a yes from us for the golden tones.
Margot Robbie is synonymous with blonde bombshell, however, her brief rendezvous with auburn hair us in awe. Unfortunately it didn’t stick around for long but we’ve still got the pics to reminisce.
It was in 2015 that we saw Sienna’s golden strands go up in flames. The blonde actress made the jump to a fiery red before returning to her roots shortly after. However, we still hold out hope that we haven’t seen the last of her vibrant copper.
