Easy upgrades for the warmer weather

It’s time to pack away the winter woollies, shed some layers and alter your beauty routine to suit the spring weather. Make these changes to your new season line-up.
Spring is the time to show some skin. Start each morning with a dry exfoliation. Use a loofah or a brush like Manicare Dry Body Brush all over your body before showering. It’s great for your circulation and to remove unwanted dry skin. For optimum absorption, apply a hydrating cream or oil straight after washing, while skin is still damp.
Play with brighter eye makeup
Statement eyes with a splash of colour will brighten your makeup mood. Try experimenting with blues and greens. It may feel unconventional, says Marc Jacob’s Global Makeup Artist Gilbert Soliz, but blue “really does help enhance your eyes”. He also notes: “A deeper shade is more flattering and suits all eye colours.” Apply it along the lash line, close to the root of the lashes, or smudge it. For a more subtle look, try adding it just to the inner corners of the eyes and follow with mascara. To get the look, we love Mecca Max Wink Weapon Mini Palette in Flamboyant.
Get your sun-kissed glow on
With more skin on show, it’s time to fake a faux glow. Applying a gradual tanner will help moisturise skin while building a light colour. A measured application will ensure you don’t go too dark, too soon, and instead achieve a subtle, natural spring glow. The more often you apply, the more depth you will achieve. We recommend St. Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan For Body.
Lighten up your hair
Ditch dark hues and take your hair to the light side. Joico Education Manager, Duncan Richards shares his tips. “Skin tone and eye colour are key to deciding what shade of blonde will suit you,” he says. “To determine your tone, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in natural daylight – a blue hue means you’re in the cool category, and a green tint means you’ve got warm skin tone.” For warm tones, try highlights in warm blonde shades. For cooler skin and blue eyes, you’ll suit an all-over, lighter blonde. To keep your blonde hue vibrant and shiny (and protect it from thermal and UV damage), spritz it with Joico Blonde Life Brightening Veil.
Make your smile whiter
A bright smile is the perfect accessory for boosting spring confidence. Lighten your teeth at home with pastes and pens that deliver dentist-worthy shades of white, such as Colgate Optic White High Impact White Toothpaste.
