The Internet thinks Kylie Jenner shaded Selena Gomez over her eyebrows

The interactions have (ironically) raised a few brows

We at BEAUTYcrew don’t tend to pay too much attention to celebrity gossip. But when brows get involved, that’s 100 per cent our business.

Now, we all know about brow laminations by now, right? In case you need to be caught up, a brow lamination is a treatment that acts like a semi-permanent brow gel, fanning out and fluffing up your brows. It basically sets them in their most feathery place possible for multiple weeks. Pretty good stuff!

But in a recent TikTok video, Selena Gomez admitted that she thought her personal brow lamination was a bit much – perhaps she tried a DIY kit. “I accidentally laminated my brows too much,” she told followers, showing off (what we happen to think were) a pair of perfectly stunning fluffy brows.

The plot thickened, however, when Kylie Jenner (potentially) entered the chat. Taking to her Instagram Story, Jenner posted a selfie that seemed to centre around her own brows. But the real hook was the caption emblazoned across her brows: “this was an accident ?????”, Jenner wrote.

Eagle-eyed fans interpreted this as Jenner referencing Gomez’s aforementioned lamination faux pas, noting that Jenner’s post came a mere three hours following Gomez’s original video. Jenner didn’t stop there, though, and went on to share a FaceTime screenshot of a call between her and Hailey Bieber. Now, we know we don’t need to explain why that was interesting…

The most notable part of said screenshot? The angle. Both Bieber and Jenner had committed to extreme close-ups, basically only showing (you guessed it) their brows. And yes, both sets were looking rather feathery as well. Here’s a breakdown of the visuals…

Once Jenner caught wind of the conversation surrounding the posts, she was speedy to shut it down. “This is reaching,” Jenner wrote on the original TikTok video. “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.”

Gomez came across Jenner’s comment and responded, seemingly further setting fans straight. “Agreed @kyliejenner. It's all unnecessary. I'm a fan of Kylie!,” she wrote.

Is it silly/unnecessary/just super weird? Sure. But it is rather coincidental. However, it’s important to remember we’re talking about three beauty brand founders – they’ve all got serious stake in the eyebrow game.

And if both Gomez and Jenner say there was no ill intent, we believe them. But if there’s one lesson to be learnt here, it’s this: you never come for a woman’s brows.
