10 of the best celebrity Halloween beauty looks of all time
Winning looks that’ll serve you some major inspo
Beauty Crew Beauty Writer / October 20 2022
Halloween is just around the corner and if you’re already on top of your costume game, good one.
If you’re more like us, you didn’t even realise it was October and haven’t given a second thought as to who or what you’re going to be dressing up as this Halloween. And there’s seriously nothing worse than scouring the web the night before a party, looking for ideas. It’s a goddamn stressful venture.
The good news? You really don’t need to splash out on that $250+ outfit, which may or may not come in time/ALWAYS ends up looking nothing like the one online. This is where the goodness of makeup and hair comes in. It’s amazing what you can create with just a little makeup and a bit of hair product.
Fact: Hollywood doesn’t mess around when it comes to Halloween (Vanessa Hudgens we're looking at you), so if you’re looking for some Halloween beauty inspo, you’ve come to the right place. Scroll down to see the best of the best; maybe you’ll pick up a few tips for your own slice of spooky glam.
Kylie Jenner went to a lot of trouble painting her body green for Hailey and Justin Bieber’s Halloween party (and subsequent stint as the couple’s third wheel on a late night pizza run). But, who’s going to be the one to tell the wicked witch of the west that she’s lounging in the one place she shouldn’t be? Let’s just say, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the upcoming Kylie Cosmetics Melted Collection…
Try: Kryolan Aquacolor Plus in 'Green' (was $49 now $24.50 at Kryolan)

Kim Kardashian is Cher’s number one fan, so much so she dressed up as the singer for Halloween. She channelled the ‘70s-era starlet like a boss last year, opting for oversized lashes, a nude lip and shiny, poker-straight locks. All you need is Jonathan Cheban by your side as a Sonny lookalike and you’re all set!
Try: Too Faced Better Than Sex Faux Mink Falsie Lashes in 'Doll Eyes' ($25 at MECCA)

Jenna Dewan looked like an *actual* unicorn in 2016 and it was probably one of our most favourite costume looks. She killed it. The idea is to dust the middle of your face with purple, blue and pink eyeshadows and draw stars along your cheeks with white liquid eyeliner for a dreamy, fairytale-inspired look.

About 90 per cent of Vanessa Hudgens’ Instagram feed is focused on Halloween, and we’re SO on board. We love this super simple ‘freak show’ look from last year, where she wore a silver wig, dark plum lips and statement makeup under her eyes. You can mimic her ‘starry’ under-eye art by using a liquid eyeshadow, and adding a scattering of face gems.
Try: Sportsgirl Gems & Jewels ($12.95 at Sportsgirl)

Victoria’s Secret model Sara Sampaio went as a botched surgical patient last year and we’ve got to say, this has to be one of the creepiest/most awesome makeup looks we’ve ever seen! Covering her hair in a white bandage, the model wore some icy white contact lenses and a ton of fake blood around the outside of her face and chest to make it look like she’d just gone under the knife. She also marked herself with ‘500 cc' for breast implants, and over-lined her lips for a supersized pout.
Try: Glass White Halloween Contact Lenses (was $30.67 now $23 at Halloween Contact Lenses)

Lauren Conrad makes one fine Disney villain! The star morphed into Cruella de Vil, rocking a two-tone black and white hairstyle, a slick of red lipstick and black winged eyeliner. She’s probably the only person that can make a baddie look unbelievably chic.
Try: GXVE BY GWEN STEFANI Xtra Sauce Longwear Vinyl Liquid Lipstick ($37 at Sephora)

Lady Gaga’s Edward Scissorhands costume from 2017 was next-level. And it scares the hell out of us. Although this one looks like it could involve quite a bit of effort, it’s actually pretty doable. Apply a full-coverage lighter-than-your-skin foundation all over your face and brows, before applying a smoky brown eyeshadow around your entire eye area. Use a beige makeup pencil for a scattering of scars. All you need is a crazy black wig and a giant set of claws to complete the look!

No Halloween party will be complete without at least one Harley Quinn. Copy Poppy Delevingne’s makeup look by applying a suuuuper light, full-coverage foundation, and adding a dusting of light blue and pink eyeshadow underneath the eyes. For that signature colourful ‘do, we recommend going for some blue and pink hair semi-permanent hair colour

Khloe Kardashian went as Storm from X-Men one Halloween and she NAILED IT (and looked eerie as heck). Colouring her locks with a temporary icy white hue, it looks like Khloe applied some metallic face paint on her forehead, before going to town on the black eyeliner front.
Try: NYX Cosmetics Metallic Glitter Lumi-Lite in 'White W/Gold Reflects' ($12.99 at NYX Cosmetics)

If you’re not a fan of the fake blood and gore, take a leaf out of Gigi Hadid’s book and dress up as one of your fave movie characters. In 2016 the model fooled everyone with this scarily accurate recreation of Sandy from Grease. The best part is, this look is super easy to do – both the costume AND the hair and makeup. And if you’re a blonde-haired gal, you’ve got it even easier. Simply curl your hair into tight ringlets, apply an intense smoky eye and add a slick of bright red lipstick.
Try: Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in 'Black Diamonds' ($37 at Charlotte Tilbury)
